G8 wheels on a 3rd Gen??

So I'm a huge fan of the G8s, and recently was looking an 09's stock rims, and was thinking they looked awesome. I've been wanting to upgrade to 18s anyway and this seems to be the perfect "Factory" upgrade. The lug pattern is 5x120 on the G8s, and mine is 5x120.65 or 5x4.75... The information I've gathered thus far tells me this is not much of a problem... next issue comes in that the lugs on a G8 are 14mm x1.5 and my lugs are 12mm x1.5. Which seems if nothing else will give me the clearance for the pattern difference. Does anyone see this as a huge issue? The last problem I run into is the hubs on the G8 are 67.1 (I believe is what I looked up) and 70.5 on my Third gen. Seems to be a real nominal difference and can be taken care of with a little bit of sand paper and a dremel. I would love some others insight here.

Aren't the G8 wheels more of a "FWD" style/4th gen offset? If so? That means that you will have to buy the bolt-on adapters.

Add the adapter cost to the wheel cost & I'm sure you can find a wheel that is a direct fit, for that price.

IMHO, our cars need the deeper outer dish that a FWD-style wheel cannot give.

you would have to get the specs of the wheel, but i agree with BlackenedBird, you will need spacers to make them work. The spacers will problaby be thick enough to negate the difference in hub size. My concern would be that the lug holes are too large, but the new camaro use the same 14mm lugs and people use those wheels so it may work.

the debate of 5x120.65 vs 5x120 will rage forever

The G8 is actually rear wheel drive and these rims actually have slighty more offset. These aren't the sad rims Pontiac more recently has offered. Sporting 245/45/18s stock with a wide aggressive stance. A little more looking shows +48mm offset on G8 rims.

I guess that ends up being a bad idea unless I get a good deal on the rims. Thanks for pointing out what I over looked.

I know it is RWD, but so is the 4th gen/5th gen & the Vettes after the early 80s yet all have FWD-style wheels.

I'm just old-school & think RWD cars need to have some kind of dish, at least 2", preferably more.

Honestly BlackenedBird I agree with you. It's not something I had taken into account or looked at. The only reason I want to upgrade from the 16s is for bigger brakes in the future, and a little more tire selection. Was thinking it'd be nice to keep a fairly "stock" look with a Pontiac center cap. Probably going to go with the original idea of powder coating a set of Firebird Formulas in the end. Thanks to BlackenedBird and 86TA for help all the same.

You could find a stock center cap emblem to put on the wheel center cap of your choice or have a custom one made.
