225/60/15 almost none made anymore

225/60/15 almost none made anymore

Great tires as its as close to stock 215/65/15 you can get 86 Firebird, its really only a hair wider and a hair smaller, but the 225s looks like 10in wide meats compared and the speedo doesn't get tossed off much 60MPH is 59.1MPH

in 2008 I was able to still find performance tires in that size, now its down to grand touring, and the two 225s in the rear I bought in 08 are still in new shape, so they aren't coming off.

pot hole gave right front a quade buckle break on each side, death rattle at 40&70, pass bucket was rocking so hard it was gonna pull the bolts out of the floor. thought it was just out of balance at first.

Re: 225/60/15 almost none made anymore

Welcome to 2013 where tire manufacturers have systematically dropped "odd" tires sizes from their lineups - and will continue to do so for the next few years.

245-50-16 and 255-50-16 are quickly going away too - and they made 4 to 5 million cars from 1985 on with those sizes...

Re: 225/60/15 almost none made anymore

I got 17inch wheels for track use and was going to swap the 15s for 16s for a better tire selection but decided to stick with the current 17s for regular use and try to pick up lighter 17s for the track. Just seems easier to get tires.

Problem is Im not a fancy aluminum rim kinda guy.

cheap 15x7 american racing rims painted matte black, were chrome but only cause chrome was cheaper. I only care that there straight for a nice ride.

Me too. But I got a set of fairly good condition ROH ZOS wheels with almost new Dunlop 275/40 tires for $500. I couldn't not buy them!

How about 235/60/15? Those will fit on a 7" wheel just fine.

Thats what my moms 87 bird had back in the day.

Re: 225/60/15 almost none made anymore

I ran 235/60/15 tires on various thirdgens over the years without issue. I see no reason to bother with the 225.

Thats what I'm saying.

235/60/15 still seems to be somewhat common.

Re: 225/60/15 almost none made anymore

Had my car for a long long time, when I went searching many moons ago the 225s were the size I could get some really nice tires for a good price.

the 235s never came up as a option

225/60R15 at Coker Tire for $125/ea. Is BFG Radial TA. I read somewhere Coker bought the BFG molds so they should be available for a long time since Coker make all the obsolete sizes for older cars.
