American Racing to offer paint/polish Iroc replicas.

I sent them an email the other day to see if would be possible to get a set of 18x8 Irocs, without the chrome. Several years ago I inquired with a different manufacturer,(not AR) and was told the wheels were made overseas and they came like they came. Chrome. .....I figured (hoped) AR actually made them, and maybe they could sell 'em "pre" chrome, even if I had to paint and polish myself. I received a very polite, and short reply simply stating that what I was looking for was being worked on already, and should be available soon.

I didn't specify color, only that I was planning on painting and polishing. I didn't ask about other sizes or widths, or about the later 88-90 style. I would assume that whatever the range of sizes currently available in chrome would now be available in another finish.

Anyhow......passing along the info.

That's what is holding me back from buying them.

Glad to see they are offering different finishes though. I've been seeing these rims on everything lately.

 

I doubt it - 8" wide fits almost any GM bolt pattern car - 9.5" would be great, but fitment is limited.

 

hopefully in some decent widths indeed... 8" is just pathetic. They would be awesome in a concave design, 10.5 or so wide. It's the only reason I don't have a set.

I agree with Paul's reasoning. 8" is going to fit anything (pretty much). 9 or bigger starts to get pretty car specific. .....I'm pretty sure AR will make ya whatever ya want though. ....and of course, you can always have them widened. More cost, sure, but.......no one is in this hobby because it's cheap.

 

Polished 18x9.5 would sell like hot cakes. You could really tuck those in up front and it would look completely stock.

somebody update this when it's a done deal and they are available. I like irocs, but would only like a set in 17", which I have a hard time finding

 

Let me check my size when I get home... I have 16" chrome IROC rims from AR on my car. They were probably purchased about 5 years ago by the previous owner, he said they were correctly sized for the 3rd gen...

 

Somebody, needs to make these in 17/18 x 8/9 and use the OE centers

Rear tires are 235/55/16. Fronts are 225/55/16.
