Anyone run a 265/55/r16 size tire??
Street/ strip car. Want a good sized rear tire in a drag radial like a 275 but no one seems to make a 275 for a 16 inch rim. I found the 265 55.. Does anyone run this tire? Would like to see a picture of it on a car if anyone has this size tire on their car...? Thanks!

I couldn't find the size 265/55/16, did you mean 265/45??? They will fit on a stock size wheel and are about 10 inches wide. they fit perfectly and clear in the car with no rubbing, and are just about the same height at as 245/50 but extra inch to inch and half wider. they clear on mine and its lowered 1.75 inches.

A 265 (or 275 tire) is going to be too wide for an 8" wheel, a 9" or 9.5" is optimal.
That being said, 16" tires in 265 or 275 width are extremely rare and may become extinct soon. As the 275-40-17 is the exact same diameter and there are over 35 tire options available (from snows to drag radials), why not look into that avenue? There are a few 17" x 9.5" wheels that can fit a 275-40-17, so you don't need to worry.

says it will fit a 8.5" wheel. pretty close. I'd try them if your going for fat stance. If your looking for hook, the 255/50r16 BFG DR's are pretty awesome.

a 265 will fit perfectly on a stock width wheel...i have run them for years. but yes they are becoming VERY hard to find....I am going to a 18 inch wheel set because of the lack of options.

Thanks guys for the input. I decided on a 255/50/16 bfg drag radial. I went from a 15" rim to a 16" and didn't understand the tire sizes but now I'm catching on.

Re: Anyone run a 265/55/r16 size tire??
Those are Kumho XS. (XS stands for autocross street).. But I believe they have just discoutinued them....you can find some here and there....they were by far the best tire I've ever used....very very sticky....almost slick sticky...but got pretty decent mileage on them. That being said it's really hard to find 265/45/16's anymore. Kumho is the only one still making them as far as I know....but only in the victoracer v700 and v710. one is a full on slick (similiar to the hoosier A6) and the other is one step below a slick. I just ordered another set for my car....little spendy but better than going back to a 245 i think.
