Gone back about 4-5 pages and cannot figure out what wheel sizing I need. I currently have some no name 18s on but they are in need of replacement. I have no idea what back space or offset to run though. I Def like dished wheels.
Stock thirdgen wheels typically have no offset (0mm) or at least very low (+16mm) offsets, like 16" rear Iroc wheels. The 4th gen rear is about 4 inches wider (2" on each side) than the 3rd gen rear. Those wheels typically would have around a +50mm offset (which is about 2"), which allows them to sit the same way in relation to the car, but to take up the extra space from the rear end without pushing the wheels further out. Most modern cars will have this higher offset, as it allows more room for bigger modern brakes behind the spokes. Unfortunately, most of these wheels don't have any lip/dish, due to the high offset.
I encourage you to double check my findings, but a quick search shows a stock 4th gen z28 with a +46mm offset. ....so if you bought a wheel that was 8" wide, like stock, with +46mm offset, and put them on your 4th gen rear, they should sit just....like....stock. Most guys these days are running wider, so that'll push it out a little too, if you go wider than 8". ....then figure a little more or less stick out if you can't get exactly +46mm offset.
The LOWER the offset....the more they'll stick OUT. ....The HIGHER the offset, they more they'll tuck IN. The 4th gen rear pushes them OUT....so they add offset to tuck 'em back IN.
A higher offset wheel (like 45mm) would likely NOT have any dish. A low or even negative offset COULD have some dish, or depending on the styling, could NOT have dish. Example being the 91/92 z28 wheels. They have a low offset (zero) but due to the way they're styled, they have no dish. High offset however.....no dish.
