Wheels and TiresNeed help with wheels or tires? Got fitment issues? Have questions about tire performance and handling? Ask all of those questions here!
Ok I thought I had it figured out then I started googling and now I am confused again. I'm looking at some wheels to use on a stock 3rd gen rear end and stock brakes. Hoping to run a 285 or 295 rear and 235 or 245 front.
18x10 rear with 5.5" backspace and 0 offset OR 18x10 rear with 6" backspacing and +12 offset
18x8 front with 4.5" backspace and 0 offset
Hub bore 72.56mm
Could I use either of these rears and this front on a 1992 Z28? Not lowered but might go 1"
Ok I called American Racing and the guy there said the 18x8 would fit front and rear no problem but that the 18x10 +12 would hit inner body probably and the 0 offset would rub outer fender lip. Damn it.
Well, 18x10 +12 offset wheel fits, but it depends how wide and what brand tire you use.I have 18x10 +15 offset wheel at rear, and 285/35R18 Goodyear fits nice, but 295/35R18 Bridgestone ->no hope...
Btw,295/35R18 Vredestein fits nice

Nice! So the +12 should work then. I was thinking I could add a 4mm or 5mm spacer if it was too close to the inner wheel well. I would probably go with a 285/35 or a Nitto 295/35 and Nitto usually runs narrower

BS and offset are two different methods of measurement. 0 off set on a 10" wide wheel would be 5" of back space. 5.5" of bs will work, the face of the wheel being flush to the fender. More bs brings it in. I have 18x10 with 5" bs

Damn ok so you have 18x10 with 0 offset? I was told by someone else in the facebook groups that the 18x10 +15 is what I wanted haha. I'm lost
It's a mix of what works and what you think looks good. +15 is roughly 5.6" of back space. Typically wheel manufacturers work in increments of half an inch, so you'd be looking at 5.5" of bs. Some guys like 6.5" of bs on a 10 inch wheel.

So I wonder if I split the difference and bought the 18x10 +15 and ran a 4mm or 5mm spacer. That might keep it off of the inner fender and a little away from the outer fender
18x10. +6 offset , 5.74 backspacing. 295/35 tires. All the way around. Took a little trimming on back of front wheel opening and some massaging of rear front inners. No spacers. They will still lightly rub on the inside of the front. Once I do brake upgrades it should fix that.
18x10's out back. Had them a long long time now, if memory serves 6.5 BS. No spacer on the rears, and you can barely fit a finger between the rim/tire and the wheel well on the back side. I wanted as much lip as i could get on the rim. Fronts are 18x8, baer rebuilt spindles with a 1/4 in spacer to clear the caliper. Minor rub on full lock. Hope this helps if you're still looking for advice

Would you happen to have any more photos? She’s gorgeous
Looks killer, what is the backspacing. Had Boze wheels on another car a few years ago and loved them!
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
for backspace, I went with 5" backspacing up front on the 8" wheel. On the rear it is a 5 7/8" backspace on the 10" wide wheel. Therefore I didn't need any spacers at all.
- sidenote. I do have to use spacers up front when I put on my 4.5" wide drag wheels ("skinnys") but thats simply to clear the brake caliper.

yup. Even though it is a Moser 12 bolt aftermarket rear axle, I had it built to be the stock width.
(I had the wheels made by Boze back when I had the 10 bolt rear in it in 2015, the Moser rear came in 2017 so thats why I had it built at stock width)
those are MOOG Iroc springs. I put them on back in 2008 . I cut about 1.25 coils off the rears over several years and I am happy with them now. My front end is low because I have 2" lowering spindles
