I've had a hard time finding pictures of the early 85-87 style 17" Irocs. Definitely some out there, and in the other "Hawk's" thread, but not many. I'm considering them for the 88. Might not go with Iroc wheels at all. I don't know. Anyhow, just figured I'd see what's out there.

Those are both beautiful cars. ....In stock 16" form, I think both styles are equally good looking but in 17"......man I dunno, this earlier looks better. This coming from a guy who's owned an 88 and an 89.

Thanks! Yes, it’s my car. I’m close to the Raleigh area. I was not expecting the big difference the 17’s were going to make but they were definitely worth the cost. Love them!

I have pics of the later year 17" irocs on my car as well in my other thread. Or I can post em here if you want to compare them directly....

Nah, no need. I have plenty of the later Irocs!!!

....I dunno if any of you guys see what I see, BUT in my opinion......looking at just the wheel....I have a hard time telling the difference between 16" and 17" early style wheels. -and I mean that in a good way. Now sure there are "tells", like tire profiles etc. etc., but even in the pics on Hawk's website, I can hardly tell the difference. The later style I can instantly recognize a difference, and I almost feel the 17" looks "too big". Keep in mind this is coming from a guy who likes big wheels for brakes and tires, but not for the sake of appearance. My theory is that because the early style spoke tapers from the hub to the rim, where as the later style spoke has a fixed width. This make it easier to tell the spoke is longer. Not bashing anyone's choice because after all I had one of the early sets of "later" style 17" on my 89. I'm all about some later IROCs, but I dunno.....in 17", I just like the early style better. Maybe it's just me, but I'm seriously considering selling my Welds and getting early style 17's for my 88.

I went with the Hawks 17" 85-87 Iroc wheels as you have a better choice in tires sizes vs the 16"

Great looking car, love those wheels. What is your front brake set up? Is it an original 1LE?

Thank you.

It's actually the corvette c4HD conversion.
Same calipers, but 13" rotors.
