Pics of my Dual 3in exhaust

I bought some 3in mandrel bends from Summit and had a friend of mine fabricate a true dual exhaust system for me. The muffers are stainless Edelbrock RPM(3in in 3in out), I chose them because they are only 3 1/2 inches thick. I'm normally not a fan of edelbrock exhaust but the quality of these mufflers is excellent and they sound great. Probably too loud for most people for a daily driver but for a street/strip car like mine they are perfect. A nice low rumble that vibrates everything in the house when the car is running. I have a Spohn torque arm and crossmember, the front of the crossmember was trimmed to give more clearance for the exhaust. Ground clearance is very good about 4 1/4in (my car is at stock ride height). The pipe was tucked up very close to the body for maximum clearance. Ground clearance is much better with this setup than it was with the 2 1/2 inch y-pipe to single 3in Flowmaster cat back that I used to have. I'm very happy with the results, one of the better improvements I've made on my car.

That's pretty much exactly what I want to do with mine, except probably in 2 1/2" pipe instead of 3". Maybe an H pipe at some point too.

personally, i like the way that you can see a little bit of it from the side...it's tucked up really nice next the the floor so it looks like someone took the time to do it right, but then it also still looks like the car means business.

excellent setup man, your car is the one car that has inspired me to keep away from the gfx trend. props to ya man...

on those mufflers, are they a chambered muffler or a turbo style muffler, about how much did they set up back? i am going back to true duals but i want to keep the cost down as much as possible. going 2 1/2" and currently looking at the hooker aerochambers cause of cost and sound...also putting in an h-pipe.

These mufflers aren't baffled, heres a link to the edelbrock website showing how they are made. I'll see if I can find a way to get a sound clip. I love the sound, definately draws a lot of attention especially with the lope of the cam.

nice.....

That looks really clean man. Good job.

You friend can weld with the best of them.

The mufflers are a little low in the rear, but it probably works for you just fine.

silverbulletZ28,
I haven't scraped anything yet. I have driven over some speed bumps and the curb going into my drive way with no problems. I have enough ground clearance that I shouldn't scrape under any normal driving conditions.

Well done.
It's nice to know that some people understand that 'dual exhaust'
does not include... X, H, or other bs.

i am not sure why anyone wouldn't want to run a crossover pipe, they make more power that way...

You meant to say 'y-pipe' right? H and X type crossovers most certainly are only referenced on dual exhaust setups. It's a tested phenomenon that produces more power consistantly. I fail to see how having a crossover negates a dual setup configuration.

I like it but its too low for me. Add a prokit or sportlines and your riding the exhaust on the ground. I want trual duals but may just hold off on that.

a true dual system of this nature would probably only be used on a drag specific car, one that will never see such lowering springs due to the lack of weight transfer.
