Damn it, fly by's suck!

What the hell is this? "HOLY CHIT D00D!!! Watch this....*guy speeds up starting a 1/4 mile away from the guy in front of him*." I swear thats what their telling thier buddies in their car when they do this crap. I went out last night and for the first time brought the wife with me. The streets were pretty dead so I was goofin around dropping gears and hit a white mustang next to me at a light. I punch it and get the jump but the guy didn't bite so I just go the speed limit when out of nowhere a black mustang convertable (not sure if it was a GT) just zooms past me at like 75mph in a 40. Im going 40 and im thinking to myself "WTF???". So I gradually try to ge to his door casually. I don't want to rush because I refuse to feed a fly by(er's) ego and actually stroke it into believing he actually raced me legitimately. I slow got next to him and im two cars away and he punches it.

At this point me and my wife are laughing saying this guy must be scared. Then luck comes in, red light up ahead, woo hoo. Nope, im wrong, he got in the right lane and turned off in fear I suppose. Light went green right when I go past him and I give him a nice 6000 rpm rev and him and his friend literally jumped, the car is loud if you don't know by now .

My wife was cracking up hard the way they turned their heads in shock. Man I hate that fly by crap.

Everyday after school a honda civic and some cugar(sp?) both with body kits and fartcannons rev at me. It gets very old very fast so one day i pull out follow him to an abondend street (goes to a seculted beach and hardly used park) and chase him down. I rev and he rolls down his window and says "i dont race v8's" so i ask him why he always revs and he tells me "thats what my friends do to warm up the internal nitrous" (im not even playing around) He then proceeded to tell me my nova didnt have nitrous becuase it didnt shoot falmes outa the tailpiple and a few other F&F remarks i laughed and turned around.HARRY I NEED TWO BOTTLES THE BIG ONES IM ONLY TOPING OUT AT 140

i been wondering the same thing, no body around me is like that for the most part. This is getting out of hand. You know they make FAKE nitrous purge kits that use CO2 to create the mist?

Well, some good news to this, just went downtown to go switch out some tapes and I saw another thirdgen. Was a teal or light blue, believe it was a 89 RS, had a lot of jegs stickers and what not with what seemed to be a 40+ year old guy driving it, so I get up next to him and its kind of a respect thing, we both just cruised along at the same speed on the highway for a short period before he got off at an off ramp and I looked over and gave my hand out in respect and he threw me the thumbs up. Its nice to give and recieve some respect. Every thirdgen owner in this town has done this to me. I once pulled up on a RS exactly like mine that had a racing club logo on his back windshield, we just cruised the whole way down the main road and when he turned off we both gave the respect. Its nice.

Ahhhh, how sweet.

You can make your own tail pipe kit by the way. All it takes is a fuel injector and a spark plug.

You dont even need the injector. If you run a turbo or a supercharger, you can just rev her up and then get off really fast, and for a split second it'll run rich enough to give you a pretty good flame. I even considered doing it for a while.

yeah i seen turbo'd supras and cobra stangs do that when they are running real hard and suddenly let off.

pasky i know what your talking about. practically any camaro i run across gives the thumbs up or a nod of approval and i do the same.. LOL some thirdgen owners stop to chat when at the gas station and we pull in at same time. dont know them, but we chat about our cars and such. LOL Even at the shows, i stop to chat to the thirdgenners. LOL not sure what that is, like a unwritten code, that you give your respect to others with the same car as you and they give it back LOL. Sweet moments LMAO

Yep, it really is an unspoken rule. Reminds me of that Adam Sandler skit..."respect....respect the respect." haha.

I've got a video of my car shooting a small flame when I hit the rev limiter during a race before it was tuned. Most of you have probably seen it, I know Pasky has.

I know a guy with an N/A motor, just tunes the carb rich and lights the spark. Burned a bimmers bumper when he was tailgating.

Hahaha, thats awesome. BMW owners can be such snobs. I know because my wive's aunt is. Even her husband was talking crap when I was working on my car. When it was finished he asked if I wanted to race for pinks, saying he can beat new mustang GTs...I said sure thing, lets go, I could use a beamer. He was in shock that I agreed and kept making excuses. Needless to say, he doesn't talk to me much now .

Oh, I know a LOT of bimmer owners that are snobs. There's this one guy that thinks his m3 is the best car in the world, and he says it's the best winter car, it can outrun anything on the road,

Despite him being a dick about it, he's not too far off. That's so unfortunate when jerks are right.

It is nice. It seems like every thirdgen owner I have ever known is the same way. Its good to be seen in numbers too, lets the 16 year old ricers know that we have a level of unity and respect for each other (Even if we dont show it on the boards all the time )

I show my respect to other r1cers by throwing stuff at their cars, cutting them off then brake checking them, or (most oftenly) sleeping with their girlfriends.

:nono:

lmao, just kidding.

yeah its a great feeling to be seen in numbers. My first car show ever entered in, there were more thirdgens there than i ever would have guessed. I was surprised. Granted, nothing exceptionally nice, but alot of clean stock cars. and one TA that was currently a project car but looked incredible as it was. you could see it taking shape.

hey lj, when you move to PA, pittsburgh area, come out my way and we will cruise. it be fun and see who else we can pick up. have our own power tour. LOL

flame thrower kit.. home made inculdes this... 2 coils..2 spark plugs(for dual exaust) and spark plug wires. what you do is you cut into you line for the pos on the coil. to a switch. then run another switch back to the other coils . so when you going down the road or in a parking lot. you get the rpms high in nutrel. hit the switch for the coil and it still keeps pumping gas thought the engine cause it's still pumpoing away on inertia(spelling) the hit the switch for the coils in the back... ad you have FALMES!!!... it's really sweet we put this on my firend 72 monty carlo.. it's carbed so i dunno if this will work on a fuel injected car.. but i'm doing it to my camaro the flames are around 2feet long depends were you mont the plug

It should still work on fuel injection. I have seen a lot that do.

I've seen kits that claim 15-20 feet with turbo cars, like newer Nissans and stuff, and a few pics too. I'd consider doing it, but I dont think it's all that good for the engine, and I dont want to risk burning my paint lol.

Sounds good to me. Looks like it will be sometime around January, so maybe when springtime comes around we will have to get out and scout for fellow thirdgens.

fly bys are gay. if im stuck behind a nice muscle car or a nice car for that matter i wont even pass it out of respect. but then i get people that sometimes try to pass me when im going 10 over. what ******. right now i dont have respect for one of my friends that drives a 3rd gen. he tryed saying i have a hard time keeping up with him when it was wet out and i was spinning he wasnt. now when ever i see him i rev it cause he drives around in a low gear to try to sound like his car has *****. i cant wait to see him when we are not busy and its dry out.

Are you 16 or something? You've got a horrible ego problem man. Who cares how much over the speed limit you are driving? If you're going to slow for the person behind you, you're going to slow. What makes you think that it's up to you to set the speed limit for everyone else? I hate dicks like you who always have something to prove when I'm just trying to get to work. Half the people you race are probably just late somewhere.

I typically go ten over. No biggie. Sometimes I go as slow as a 'mere' five over. I find it just mildly annoying that ten-over just isn't fast enough for some people, but it isn't my speeding ticket. If they want to tailgate me, then I'll go slower (usually, not every time) and let them get frustrated on their own and they'll pass me. I'd rather have the idiot driver's in front of me then behind me, hanging out at my bumper. Let 'em pass. Life's just a bit too short to get all tweaked out over some idiot soccer-mom driving her H2 twenty over the speed limit.

Now if I'm feeing evil that day, I may play "Box The Idiot In" with them, or even speed up to keep them behind me or whatever. It isn't typical, but I do that about once or twice a week. Again, depends on how evil I'm feeling. I don't live for the thrill of showing some moron in a Plymouth Voyager or an Astro Van just how superior my GTA is to their vehicle.
