I though about this before too! I believe someone else has also, i saw a web site where a guy had a "1 piece headlight conversion", so he called it. He had no good pictures, all blurry and it looked like he took them from inside his house! No, but seriously, i thought about it and i figured, why would i do all of that work when the headlights would be just the same, except for the one piece part. Sure you can put in "blue" bulbs, or even "hyper-whites", but it wouldn't be all too different then the super whites i have on the car now. I am going to look into a BMW headlight conversion when i get done with my motor. I just do not have the time right now, nor the money! It would be a one piece unit but with the HID lights. I say go for it, not too many people do stuff like that, good luck!

Hey Rage, sorry, i can not remember, it was so long ago! It was from this site though, it was a red iroc and the guy had even painted his own racing stripes too! It looked alright but nothing special! This was atleast a couple of years ago before i started posting, just checking things out really! Those projectors do look pretty sweet, i say go for it! Like i said, not too many people bother with that type of stuff. Maybe they do and just do not post on this site but i sure don't see any at any shows by me. Good luck and post some real pictures if you decide to go through with it.

I see them on a lot of the newer M3s, not the newest ones but the generation before. They have a black housing with the white circles for headlamps. I am not too sure if they are equiped with HIDs but those look like they would fit the best. There is also another model, don't know which one though, that would probally fit and i know it has the HIDs in it. I have yet to really research this yet, it is still just an idea. Right now i am focused on my motor swap and most likel next year i will start to do more to the interior as well as finishing the exterior.

I recall seeing this done before. I'm fairly certain that the headlights that were used were from a late eighties caprice classic. It seems like they'd be almost a direct bolt in mod since the earlier Caprice models used a quad rectangular headlight system similar to third-gen Camaros.

Sorry for the big picture, it's the first one I could find that showed a clear view of the hadlights.

Never heard of it but you know what they say, with the right tools, enough money and time, and a pretty good imagination, almost anything is possible.

Anything is possible. But it would make life alot easier if the truck lights fit right in there with minimal fab work. There is another thread on this. The link is here:

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=69007

I think its a great idea. I already have H4's on my 91, but I'm looking for something with the 'Projector Look.' I also think projector headlamps would be better for a true HID retrofit than the H4 housings we have avlaible (also cheaper considering you'd only need one set of HID ballasts and stuff instead of two). I have an extra 91-92 front end in my garage I'm playing with. Doing all kinds of whacky stuff. Trying to barrow some 88-98 fullsize chevy truck headlights from friends so I can see how they fit. Everyone I know who did the projector lights mod on their truck threw the old ones out! Doh! I'll keep looking.

Hasn't fatal88 done a conversion like this? I remember that his "thirdgen" has one peice lights. And I do use the term "thirdgen" lightly.

Speaking of Headlight conversions - THIS would be the coolest!!

I have thought about doing this for quite a while - but I doubt it is happening, so I thought I'd pass on the idea.

I think using the newer BMW "halo" lights would look absolutely badass on a camaro. I also believe that the second to the latest 3-series lights would be a close match to fit the light pockets of the Camaro. However, as far as I know they didn't come with the "halo" lights originally, but they do come as aftermarket kits.

For those not knowing what Im talking about, I've attached a pic.
They look wayy cool at night with only those circles ("halo's")around the headlight lit up.

What'cha think?

I thought of using the older style head lamps from a BMW, with the black housings. When the new ones came out with the headlights you are describing, i thought of the same thing. Well, i took a look at one in a parking lot and it looks like it would be difficult to do, IMO. Right now my car has newer paint and i really don't feel like hacking up the body. I still think it would look good though if someone did that.

true hid's will not work right with halogen type housings. you have to have housings designed for hid's. so using the silverado, caprice/lesaber/cutlass/eldo/sevile style headlight with hid's would be a wast of money. also. the color of the light that the hid puts out does not affect the light output, so paying more for the blue tinted ones is just dumb.

penny wise, dollar dumb. that is what most of this is.

the silverado lights have a suck *** scatter pattern. the best ones are the 87-88 caprice lights. they are direct bolt ins.

i must give credit to kruss, because i learned all this info from him.

thanks
anthony
