Speaker wire problems..
on the stock speakers dose it matter if you switch the pos. and neg. wires on the speakers? and if it dose how do you tell if you have them in the right places?
as with any speaker, flipping the wires will change the phase of the speakers. you want all your speakers in phase. if you do a search here, you can find the wire colors and save yourself the trouble of hooking up a battery to each set of wires to ascertain the phase. its a pain in the ***, so do a search.
Do you have the stock headunit, too? Cause really it won't matter if you don't. Just match up the wires on both ends.
Front Left: Tan & Gray
Front Right: Light Green & Dark Green
Rear Left: Yellow & Brown
Rear Right: Light Blue & Dark Blue
And just make the pos and neg whichever you want. Otherwise, you'll probably need to do the battery trick. It's really not that hard to do.

well i don't have the stock head unit, and i ran new wires (last owner cut them all to short to use), would you beable to tell if you had them wired wrong just by the way they sound? and how do you do that battery trick?
You'd have to have some very practiced ears to be able to tell which speaker is out of phase, if any. The battery trick goes like this:
Hook up your wires to the speakers and mount them in their respective locations, but leave them uncovered. Leave the other end of the wires unconnected to the headunit. Get yourself a small battery, any size will do. I use AA cause of its small voltage (1.5 i think). Grab any pair of wires, touch one wire to the pos on the battery and the other wire to the neg. Watch the speaker cone. If it moves outward, then the wire connected to the positive on the battery is the positive wire for that speaker. If it moves inward, then it's reversed; the wire on the positive terminal is the negative for that speaker. Hook them up to the headunit in their respective locations, repeat for all your speakers, and you're set.
