Ram Air hood for the 82 Arrived today, pics inside
It finally came after 3+ weeks. Looks awesome, had a slight fitment issue, but overall it is great quality.
The Ram Air air box.

Hood on the car,

Opinions?
(edit: the hood wouldn't latch in those pics so the hood is propped up a bit, but it fits a little better now)

Only thing I think it needs is a matching spoiler since it has a muscular front end, but a base rear.

Actually, I dropped one of the hoods' washers behind the computer so I had to move it to get the washer. We put the computer back before we closed the hood.
You sir, have a good eye.

Mine on the other hand is not.
Waiting on a few parts, like my Dash, Waterpump, Timing set, rear end, mount my shifter and cover the big hole in the tranny tunnel that the 5 speed used and finish up the wiring.
This is mine,
Holy pooper, i think i jizzed in my pants after seeing that engine bay, holdy crap lol. I htink I'm going to have to take a shower now :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail:
I like the 82 but hate the front end, tell that guy to buy a freeking 85-90 TA front end for *** sack. Or atleast a 85-90 Formula front end. Maybe even just pull the vents and do a modded job of some sort. I just hate the big fat nasty vents on that front end clip. I love that RA2 hood, but doesn't seem to fit perfect, might jsut be the 82 clip though. Is that vette valve covers or something on that Lt1:hail: looks hot. Anyways I hope to see your car going real soon man.

Thanks JohnIROC, I too love the way my car looks, just needs a paint job, though.
Those are the Vette composite valve covers, I hope to get a set for my engine as well in the future.
I myself prefer the 97 and earlier style ram air hood, I think it fits the 3rd gens much better.

nice
Very nice car.. I have the same intake box for mine but am not happy with it.. Im going to get one of the intake boxes from a camaro (the one that looks like a big horse shoe) and chop it up and make my own.. If you take the grilles off of your hood and shine a flashlight in there(with the hood closed) you can see how much higher the filter sits than the openings on your hood...

Im glad im not the only one who thought that. I love the wheels, the motor, the whole car....cept the hood. Should have gone with the RA1. Just my .02 i hope that the big nasty 4th gen spoiler aint next.

I tried to get him to order the RA1 hood, but he didn't want it, so he got this $1200 hood instead.
it doesnt look bad, just i am glad i went with the ram air 1 because of better line flowing because i dont plan on getting a new spoiler.

I liked it better before. I don't think that the hood goes w/ the car at all! I still love the car tho:hail: If I were to go w/ an aftermarket hood for a bird I would go w/ the RA1. I like it much better. Don't get me wrong its in no way ugly:hail:

ooohhh
those hoods have to have tweaking to get anywhere near perfect........
on mine, gt auto, we had to pull one fender out slightly, push one in and i had to tweak on my headlight covers or the painted headlight tops to line them up.....
3 hr's and it should be pretty good.......
heres a pic of mine the same day the rod bearing spun... and i had just got it looking perfect dang it

The 82 needs the GTA style bumper cover.. 85-90 TA I think?
(the one in badgta's pic..)
It will look MUCH better without the black inserts in the bumper. I always hated that kind.

my view
It is the ramairhood.com version.. Honestly guys I thought it would flow better than it does.. I am still getting used to it, from some angles I think it looks ok from others I want to throw it out.
I think when the bank account recovers somewhat I will keep the airbox and get a ram air 1 style hood for it to reduce the lines a bit.. it does have more push to it now but can't tell if that is the airbox or the Z06 MAF I put in at the same time..
thanks for the input, positives and negatives.. the car runs well so overall I have zero complaints on the build thus far..

i love, I think it looks great....but I also think it would look more "updated" with the different nose....I'm not a buff on Firebirds...but I guess it would be the 85-90 GTA nose?

We're putting an 84 Trans Am hood on the 82.
