Does anyone know who makes some nice valve covers for My 88 GTA? I checked edelbrock and they only have valve covers for the 5.7L and so i'm outta luck there cuz I have the 5.0L... thanks

same valve covers, 5.7 and 5.0 L. Both are small block chevys, just make sure you get center bolt valve covers.

Flaming Engraving

They have them and offer custom services. Here are the ones I had made up and then modified a bit...

They were great to work with. They actually have my valve covers in their samples.

Thanks man. If you are talking about the painting I just did it myself. Turned out pretty good. I have pics of how I did it and what I used if you want - simple simple simple.

If you are talking about the valve covers themselves get in touch with Flaming Engraving and get a quote. I had to pay for the custom design but now that they have it it may be cheaper.

Tell 'em Schultzy sent ya ;-)

Ok now you've really gone and ticked me off.

I love the idea of your parts being body color. I have been debating on which way to go as far as color under the hood, My body is Gun Metal so I am not sure that color would stand out enough to be impressive when opening the hood. I really like the red I just don't want it to look plastered on with the Gun Metal contrast. Oh well I guess theres worse problems to have.

lol - to tell you the truth bud, now that all of the accessories are back on, wiring, hoses, etc. you can't even see it. It makes me feel good knowing it is purty under there though

i was eventually planning on coloring my engine too.. but my GTA is white... and i think a white engine would just look kinda funny... what you guys think?

and dude.... if i find out where you live... i'm gonna jack your engine so look out haha... bitchin engine!

another question.... since trans am/camaro engines are almost identical... would most edelbrock parts fit in a trans am? such as water pump, runners etc? i'm **** broke anyways so i cant buy any, but just out of curiosity

They are not 'almost' identical, they are identical. Thirdgen ponchos have chevy engines. The good news for you is that any small block chevy parts will bolt on there and that means you have tremendous parts availability.

BTW - I notice you are up in Vancouver BC... check out the Cascade Crew site (click here). There are a few of your thirdgen brothers and sisters in BC that run with the crew. There is quite a large group that post in Canadian Region board on this site and have recently had some very well attended gatherings.

Schultzy89GTA, can you please do a write-up for the FAQ on how you were able to modify 305 valve covers to fit a 383? TIA

I am hoping that was just a joke?? 305, 334, 350, 355, 377, 383, 400, 406, 408. SBC it doesn't matter. They will all use the same size valve covers. Only difference is whether or not they are Perimitter or Centre bolts.

Here are the same covers he has on my car, which will fit on my 406 when done too.

Sure... hopefully the rules are for attached images and not for linked ones...

Started with this

Masked off the valve covers and used an exacto knife to cut out the tape where I wanted it to be red

Primed and then sprayed with VHT

Used a gold paint pen to do the outline

I though maybe I should have left well enough alone but I had the idea and figured if it didn't work out that I could remove the paint. Fortunately, it turned out nice and I have gotten a big response from it.

HTH
