So is anyone for sure going to go? I'll be there around 11:30 or noon. Should be a nice day and the views will be sweet. PM me if you live up in north Denver and we can meet and cruise to Bostons.

I would love to go on this, now that the 6-speed is in, but it is my Niece's 15th birthday and I can't miss that. We should, however, put together a cruise for the summer. I have pool obligations through the middle of July almost every Saturday but after that, I'm free.

It was still moving under its own power so Im hoping its just the bushing. I hope the converter is OK. I still have the stock 700 and a good one coming out of the 91 as well.

It's good that I didn't attempt this little trip as well. It seems that my throwout bearing decided to go south on me, and pretty much screwed up the rest of my weekend, well that and havig to replace an engine in my $100 Honda. Someday, maybe, I'll get this damn thing all put together and working.

You said it, a curse. It wasn't (and still isn't) exculsive to 3rdGens though. I also had to replace an engine in my Honda which blew up 2 days after Memorial Day. A couple months back I had to replace the tires on my truck because they crumbled and fell apart on a trip home from Nebraska. I'm telling you, if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all.

Today I put the rear end in the 91 and pulled the tranny out of the 92, and pulled apart the pump. Its fine, the front bushing just walked out because overhauling it too many times over the years caused the little step at the front to wear away. so this time I will be staking it in place in addition to the normal hot loctite thing I usually do. The bushing came forward just enough to kiss the seal and put some pressure on it and make it leak plenty.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet there a little bit. I am still waiting for my new clutch to arrive, which should be today. I'll get it in this Saturday, and then on Suday... doing some kneeboarding. I can't wait to get it fixed and actually put some miles on it. The best thing I ever did to the car was to make it a manual, it is so much more fun to drive (actually push right now).

well I actually have a T-56 for this car. But I need a bellhousing and a few other items in addition to the regular swap items like clutch, hydraulics, flywheel, pedals, and crossmember. Even if I had all of the swap parts I wouldnt be ready to put it in without some sort of aftermarket rear. I would love to have a 12 bolt.

I was just fed up with the auto, and swapped in the 6-speed that was set to go in my wife's Z. I am running with a 3.27 rear and it is pretty quick. A set of 4.10's are going in this winter, along with a set of 12" brakes and 17" wheels. Had I listened to my gut, I never would have put the clutch I had in there, but I didn't and now I have to change it. The actual conversion is one of the easiest things to do, it's just a lot of it. As long as you don't have issues like I had, it should only down the car for about 2 or 3 days. Mine, on the other hand, took the better part of a month to pull off. Basically, everything I touched went to hell. My list was growing so fast, I never thought I'd finish.

If you remember I put a T-56 in THIS car. I had some clutch problems. Eventually I used a stock borg warner (GM Valeo) pressure plate and ram 900 disc. the car has had that clutch for 5+ years without an issue. No burn, chatter, or slip what so ever even though it is an aggressive material. But the flywheel is steel centerforce (supposedly required with this material of clutch disc).

I got my new clutch last night and it will be installed this weekend. It's funny, I bought exactly the clutch you describe. That makes me feel like this is going to last a while. I'm hoping that I'll be able to make the next cruise, in the GTA, or better yet, the Sand Hills Challenge.

is it the ram 900 one with the disc that has metal buttons instead of regular friction stuff? it was copper colored buttons if I remember correctly.
Anyhow the B4C is back on the road! Fixed the tranny pump. But I learned a hard lesson. the engine sagged a little and the Accel super ram kinda ate up the black cover on my wiper motor. I wonder if it will still work. Im a little afraid to turn it on.

No it wasn't the Ram 900, it is just their premium replacement unit. It came with a stock (Valeo) pressure plate but it feels so much better than the old one. It turns out that it wasn't the throwout bearing at all. The bolt that holds the throwout fork on the tranny backed out enough to allow the fork to get into the pressure plate. There really wasn't anything wrong with the clutch in there at all, but I changed it anyway. Better safe than sorry I guess. I'm quite happy with the operation of the new clutch, it's much smoother and seems to grip so much better than the old one did.
