Cam Swap - Day 7 - FINISHED!!
Yep, the car is running good now. No leaks or anything. There is a little more power than before, its deffinitely noticeable, but what is most noticable is the exhaust note.
I just have to bost my car every time I want to start it, my timing is a little off I think. Not a big deal, I have a timing light, Just need to set it and all will be well with the world.
I am sooooo happy, I accomplished what I set out to do.

I never had before times, but I guess you people sorta know how the stock engine performs.
The cam did make a noticable difference, and I advanced the timing about 4-5 degrees, it made a pretty good difference too.
I have a rocker ticking, so I have to readjust it. Oh yeah, and the bitch is on the passanger side too.. you know, the side that takes forever to get to because of all the smog ****. Yeah, thats the one... ARGH!

Oh man Nitro, you wouldn't believe it. It feeeeellss soooo goood!!!
The first day, I had a little help, and all I really got off was the intake and the water pump. Everything else, I did pretty much myself. I am so proud of myself today, you shoulda seen the HUGE smirk on my face when I first started the car and it ran. The smirk just got bigger and bigger when I realized there were no leaks of any kind, and everything was running up to par.

Hey, man, that's a great price for a cam swap. Imagine what it woulda cost at the dealer!!! Great job. We're prouda ya! Oh, I know how you could've saved ninety bucks. Throw that torque wrench in the trash! A Lexus tech I know just torques the bolts down with a regular rachet and says 'click click' when he thinks he's reached the proper torque spec! He hasn't had a leaky head or intake manifold yet, and he's built A LOT of engines. Ha, ha. Just something to think about.
When you've done a lot of motors, you can probably get away with that. But I think we've covered that this is Sonar_un's first huge project. A torque wrench is cheap insurance against overtightening and possibly breaking bolts and warping the intake manifold, or undertightining and having them back out later on down the road after a few heat cycles. And it was a loaner anyway, so he wouldn't really have saved the money, would he?
Good job dude. Now you can help out the newbies that everyone else is too good to help.

GOOD FOR YOU!
IMO if you can do a cam swap and get it running, you can do anything to your motor now. The reason I say this is because now you can understand the timing in the engine. (valve timing, distributer timing) If you can install a cam in time with the crank,(not to difficult ) and the distributer correctly,(a little trickier ) just about everything else is just turning bolts.
One question. I'm a little dense and can't understand your user name. What does it all mean?

Well, the thing with the torque wrench, is that I can bring the sucker back and get all 90 bucks for it. I don't have too much of a problem with that
My user name, ahhh yes, the mystery. what is UN anyway. Well, I used to run a website called Unreal Nation. Thats where the UN comes from. I left Unreal Nation a LONG time ago, and just kept the UN becuase if I register my name just about anywhere, there is a Sonar.
