Headlight Covers! Where can i get them
I've seen a thirdgen camaro with louvered headlight covers. they only go over the headlights and they look like louvers.
Anyone know what im talking about?

Good call Jim! There was a lot of garbage like that around in the 80's. If I remember correctly that pic was one of the advertisements from one of the companies manufacturing that crap. Notice the aftermarket ground effects, horribly dated wheels, etc. A set of those headlight covers, a wide body kit, some painted rear window louvers, a Daytona Iroc hood, a Dobi tail light insert, and some Calvin pissing on the Ford emblem stickers, and you've got a 1980's icon. Actually, all that crap was 'point and laugh' worthy when it was new and it still is. I suppose that kind of thing would be considered retro now, but it'd still look stupid.

I think it would be an interesting mod to make the louvers open up when the headlights are on and close again when you switch them off... but then again I could just be crazy.

Re: Headlight Covers! Where can i get them
make up 2 rails ,tie them together at the top near the hood with a solid non moveable louver , install the other 5 all the way down towards the bumper (made out of plexiglass ,painted black ) with a pivot point so they can move up and down , then tie a rod the size off a coat hanger to them ,now when the rod moves up and down all the louvers will move together , you can use a vaccum switch to move the rod up and down . or something like that

Re: Headlight Covers! Where can i get them
i agree that functional louvers would be pretty cool for somebody to make, but the reason the hideaways look so good on the firs gen camaro is because it makes it look like its one huge grille, our grille's sit too low for it to ever look as good as the first gen hide away's

Re: Headlight Covers! Where can i get them
I would go for a headlight cover lens..similar to whats on the 98-02 fourth gens, then tint them..

Time to revive this baby, a member here has a contempo camaro that had the Louver headlight covers when he got it, i still like these things no matter how cheesy they are or were.
