HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
Hello People! I was changing a bunch of hoses on my 1992 Trans Am (5.0 TPI 5 speed Convertible), and I removed the Crankcase Ventilation tube (the tube/hose that connects on the passenger side of the throttle body and draws fresh air into the right/passenger side valve cover. The crankcase ventilation tube cracked when I removed it. I cannot find a replacement anywhere (NOS or aftermarket), and I need to keep it hooked up for CA smog requirements. Anybody deal with this issue? Curious what remedies or solutions you all have found in order to replace the tube when it dries out and cracks. OR Ideally, does anyone have a NOS one that they would be willing to sell? Please let me know your thoughts, solutions and remedies!

I've seen used assemblies for sale on Ebay once in awhile. You'll have to experiment with search terms to find it though.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
Well you can always just use some vacuum line, although it doesn't look the best, or....order part number 10055872 from GM parts direct. I actually just placed an order for that very part!!!!!!! You can ebay search to see a picture, but GM parts direct has it much cheaper. It's a corvette part number, but can't see any real difference from my old cracked part. The most important part for me is the throttle body side, with all the proper bends to fit nice and neat. Worst case if the line to the valve cover isn't 100% the same (not sure why it wouldn't be) it's easy enough to fab/splice up. That throttle body side of the hose is what I want to look nice and factory.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
LOL! I was just happy to find one. My old one where it attaches to the TB was cracked and wouldn't stay on.....a hose clamp on it looks kinda "rural"...if ya know what I mean!

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
LOL, yeah, what I found that worked real well was to smear some RTV around the nipple on the TB, then use a black zip tie. ....unfortunately it just kept cracking farther and farther down. I currently have some generic vacuum line in place, but hope to have the proper hose on in a few days.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
I just ordered GM p/n 10055872 from GM Partsgiant for $20.39 shipped to my door. The bends from where the hose attach to the throttle body look identical to my original hose. The only difference is that the hose length to where it attaches to the black plastic piece that fits into the grommet on the front of the passenger side valve cover is longer, so I think I'll be able to modify it to work on my application. Will post pictures of my original hose, the new one and what it looks like installed on my car. Thanks for the feedback guys! It is much appreciated!

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
Haha Bob! That's funny! I think that the hose length is different is because the grommet on the valve cover might be at the back of the valve cover closer to the firewall and in late 1989-1992, f bodies have the grommet on the valve cover at the front.

EDIT- so my car is a MAF car. Apparently after some research...the SD 91/92 cars have the tube towards the front. Yes??? Anyhow...ya learn something new everyday. AGain....shouldn't matter though.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
So it is my understanding that earlier third gens had the grommet on the valve cover toward the back of the valve cover on the passenger side where the crankcase vent tube would attach to, but at some point during the late production months of 1989 GM moved the grommet to the front of the valve cover closer to the throttle body. Has anyone else heard this or something different?

Anyone have the PT number for the PVC hose?

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
Not surprised to see those two sites send those emails lol. I must have gotten that same email over ten times from them. Not their fault they can't get the part but they should note that its discontinued before purchasing.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
I had the same issue and couldn't find the OEM part anywhere. Here's what I did. I bought a length of 3/8 fuel hose. It fit perfectly on the valve cover grommet but the throttle body nipple is slightly larger in diameter. So I wedged a ratchet handle into the end of the hose and let it sit a couple of days to stretch the rubber. After that, with the help of a little grease, the 3/8 hose went on the TB fine. Then secured it with a hose clamp. Total cost was $3.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
I think what I may try is get a length of vacuum hose, stick a stiff wire in it, say like a coat hanger or something and bend the new straight hose to the originals shape. Might work, but might collapse at the sharp bends. IDK

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
Original Crankcase Vent Tube. It is cracked where it fit onto the fitting connected to the throttle body.
Here is GM Part Number : 10055872
The original hose vs the NOS GM hose. The difference is that this NOS one (p/n 10055872) is longer, for earlier TPI cars that had the CC Vent Tube connection at the rear of the valve cover. The most important thing is that the curves are molded exactly the same and the throttle body side has a larger diameter than the end where the fitting connects the hose to the valve cover fits.
I measured the old one vs the new one and cut off the end. Be sure to cut off the end that is the smaller diameter for cars that have the fitting at the front of the valve cover like my '92 does, and the larger diameter end is the end that fits onto the throttle body fitting.
Here it is, installed. It fits perfectly and looks exactly the same, which was important for me as I am trying to keep my car extremely authentic original/NOS GM.

Re: HELP! Crankcase Ventilation Tube/Hose Replacement
Thanks, Bob! I am just happy that all 3 of us were able to find one, and that after cutting off the excess hose, it looks and fits exactly the same as our original cc vent tube (GM p/n 10105287) did! Let me know how yours all work out! For reference, my car is a '92 Trans Am convertible, speed density car, with a T-5 manual transmission, with the crankcase vent tube inlet at the front of the passenger side valve cover.
