Getting frustrated with Scoggin-Dickey

My first order with SDPC was the complete roller valve train for my 355 build up. Included in the order was a Comp-Cams XFI 268 cam for an O.E roller block. I get the order and they sent me a retrofit roller cam, No big deal people make mistakes so I call them up and they agree to exchange the camshaft for the correct one, their mistake. The CS guy says to get me the cam faster he will charge my card for another cam and then upon receipt of the old one they will refund my money, ok great I need the cam ASAP. So three days later another cam arrives this time direct from comp and it is again another retrofit roller cam. I call SDPC again and talk to the CS and explained what was going and again he agreed to send another cam out. After four days the correct cam finally arrived. That was a month and a half ago.
I placed another order with them Monday for a set of GMPP LT-1 style screw in studs and a Tavia 6 3/4 adjustable timing pointer and I get the order today and they send me a B&B adjustable timing pointer for a 6 1/8 balancer.
And as of today I still have not received a refund on the two cams they cross shipped my. I have confirmation that both cams I sent back were delivered to them. Has anyone else had any problems like this from them lately?

Ive used them a couple times with no problems. But I never had to send anything back so I cant comment on that. I always order using the part numbers on their website so they cant screw it up and it usually arrives without problem promptly.

I just walk in and buy from their counter sales. BTW, they lost most of their competent internet/national sales team with the GM layoffs.

I bought my LO5 Crate from them, had great service and fast shipping. But they cut my warranty from 3yrs 36000, to 1 yr 12000 parts only. They said because it was not going in the car its intended for, which is BS since the ad for the motor on the website says commonly used to replace TPI camaros and firebirds.

That's not SD, that's GM - The standard over the counter warranty is 12/12 - the crate motor warranty is only for the specified application in the catalog - if your engine was not specifically released to the vehicle you installed it in, it doesn't get 3/36 from GM, even if it fits and works perfectly. It may sound like they're trying to wiggle out of warranty, but if you were the one responsible for the warranty bills, and had people putting passenger car engines in street-sweepers, boats, motorcycles, etc -and trying to get reimbursed for parts and LABOR for installing the engines in anything you can imagine, you would want to make sure you put that fine print in the warranty...

Scoggin Dickey Rocks

My dad is one of the cs reps you are dissing on. Dad has been in the GM parts business for over 30 yrs., and can spit more parts numbers out by memory than you could look up in a month. Be sure you ask the salesperson a few questions about the items you are ordering so they know what you want, and you make sure they know what you are talking about. Some of the guys there are book smart, and not hands on smart about cars. I am sure if you go to their web site and get the part number of the item you want, and call and order the part by the number, you will get the right part. Also, they have more people than you will ever know that call and order a list of parts one day, go and talk to a couple of friends who tell them to do something different, and then call back the next day and completely change their order. Make sure this is not you before you go slammin' on somebody. Scoggin did not get where they are today by doing the things you are accusing them of doing. I am getting all my parts for my '87 ROC from them, and am having no trouble. They sell over $4 million dollars a year worth of parts for a reason.

- rpob4z - No matter who the rep was or how many years experience they have, he got the wrong part TWICE and has yet to be refunded for them, even though he has confirmation that they've been recieved. Thats ****-poor cs, no matter who works there. He orders again and again, gets the wrong parts. - Their reps are either knowledgeable or not, and obviously the ones that he has talked to are not. No one is dissing your dad(don't even know for sure who he talked to), just stating that he's recieving very bad cs from them. - Also, 4mil a year? I would hope. I work for a 6 store ind/hyd hose business in Fl(not nation wide or net ordering) and we turn over 1 million a month.

- I'd be pissed. No matter how you look at it, that crummy customer service. I've haven't ordered from them in a long time, mostly because I can beat their prices on the things I get. This just gives me that much less of a reason to order through them.

They suck I bought a 383 crate motor and all the valve trian and other misc. parts from them. and was charged for everything but didn't get it all. I think if a customer is gona spend thousands of dollars with you, you should take care of them.

I have used them in the past.

I have also set up GP's with them thru here as well.

Never had an issue.

Have u asked to talk to a supervisor and have you made and sent copies of your invoices back to them for authenticity.

Might try to be nice on your end and get it resolved quicker.

later
