Blue Halo Headlights on a 82 Z28
Just for kicks I installed some blue halo headlights on my Z28. The original lights were the factory sealed beam barely-brighter-then-a-candle junk, and my new ones are EXTREMELY bright HIDs with blue halos. It took a bit of rewiring, but nothing more then 15 minutes of work. Personally I think they look great. You'd have to see them in person to do them justice though. My Camaro is black, so a blue halo against a blacked out car = lots of heads turning at night. They've been in for a few hours and I've had 3 different people come up to me and ask about them, were I got them, were they easy to install, etc. I love 'em!
Here's a video of them on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pEIhe0u4bI

Re: Blue Halo Headlights on a 82 Z28
Those are the same ones I have on my 92. The housings and reflectors are ABS plastic, I've burned out one of the reflectors (driver outside lamp) and had to install a new housing, the other one of the pair isn't far behind, this is with the recommended wattage H4 bulbs.
As soon as I can afford them, I'm changing these Pilots out to a set of non halo H4 & H1 housings by Cibe. Check them out here..

I personally do not like them becuase they are square. Plus Halos should only be on BMW's. That is it.

I personally love them because they are square. The squareness "fits" the look of the 3rd gen Camaro a lot better then circular halos in my opinion, plus it's something different from the generic circular halo you see on everybody and their brothers car.

Re: Blue Halo Headlights on a 82 Z28
Hey for the halo headlights, would you mind showing the light quality as in brightness and how well the light is projected to the ground? I know there not projectors but im curious on seeing how the shines, and if you keep the car like 25 to 30 feet back from a garage door and see how it shines on there? You seem like one of the few with these actual halo lights, so i thought i would ask. Thanks

Re: Blue Halo Headlights on a 82 Z28
You're going to burn out the reflectors on those lights. The only glass on them is the lens, the rest is ABS plastic, including the reflector. I have a set and this is how the reflector looks with regular use, this is the better of the two - the other housing had to be replaced because it was so bad. If you look, you can see that it is the recommended wattage bulb (60/55 watt) for the housing.

Re: Blue Halo Headlights on a 82 Z28
So those are the bulbs that come with the housings and it dulled out the reflectors? Did that company send replacements for the issue?

Re: Blue Halo Headlights on a 82 Z28
Mine came without the bulbs, but they are the same wattage as the ones they include now. As I said already, the housings are cheap plastic with a reflective coating and H4 bulbs get HOT. I don't expect replacements and I won't buy another set. If you look closer at the picture, that isn't dulled out, those are black marks where the heat from the bulb burned the reflector. Those lights are coming out as soon as I can afford the Cibe lights I linked earlier from Daniel Stern Lighting.

About how long did you have them before all the problems occurred? And is your car a night driver or mostly a day?
