the ABS missing link, a S10 47 tooth reluctor wheel ... who wants to get some built ?
NO OFF TOPIC POSTS MORONS ...... you either post or PM "yes" your in ... OR MOVE ALONG to your own posts .... nothing else !!!!!!!!! I don't have time to explain it nor help in your own quest !!!
this post is for the "ABS missing link"
a 47 tooth reluctor wheel that fits an S10 abs rotor ... which would be cut down to just a hub ...
who ELSE wants to get some built ?
one of our co-drivers (a M.E.) modeled the part in Pro-E at lunch and sent it out for quotes ... we are getting 1 or 2 pair made for ourselves .. REGARDLESS if anyone else wants in ... but if we have 10 pair made (only need 3 more people) ... they start to get affordable at $250 a pair ... more = cheaper .... this maybe the one and only chance to get ABS in a 3rdgen ... EVER ..... waiting on another quote which MIGHT be cheaper ... then we are ordering them ...
you snooze .. you loose ...
we are NOT waiting ........ I'm not explaining it .... I'm NOT discussing ANYTHING ELSE

the most logical is a 4th gen 4 wheel ABS setup ... swap your rear end and it'll plug right in ... the missing link for that setup is the 47 teeth reluctor wheel for the front ... just use the stock S10 wheel sensor that's mounted to the backing plate ....
4th gen rear ... $100-500
pull a part haul $150 .... computer sensors wiring s10 rotors etc
custom reluctors $250
brake lines ... fittings .. fluid .. etc etc ... $100
whole system $600ish ...

custom reluctors $250

Is the 4th gen abs any good? Most of the earlier abs I have driven are terrible, way to biased to no lock up, which means no braking when you want it. Maybe the vettes had better?

the ABS system in the 4th gen BLOWS AWAY the 3rd gen one ....
no idea on the vettes .... feel free to go find out the details on any
system you want .... I won't get in your way nor post to your thread

Excuse me, but YOU mentioned the 4th gen abs, I just want to know if its better than nothing, or at the very least worth the trouble to swap instead of something better, like maybe vettes. As I said before, some early abs systems are Worse than nothing, so it isn't necessarily better than the non existent third gen abs. But yes I know, it's much more fun to rag on other people for no reason than to work on your car.....

Re: the ABS missing link, a S10 47 tooth reluctor wheel ... who wants to get some bui
A good driver can out brake a s10 ABS system so i dont know where the argument is there unless your comparing to todays ABS systems then there night and day i think if your going to put ABS do it right and but a good system in like ones posted below but i think a good driver can hands down outperform a s10 ABS system unless your a horrible driver then any ABS would come out on top aka "Soccer Mom Style"
heres some good abs systems that can be implemented in thirdgen like i said anything is possible when the motivation is there
but after reading some of you other threads i dont see much usefull information here or progress in your statments of putting ABS into your camaro

Thread crap much? I don't see how any of what you posted in relevant in this thread. The guy has access to have tone wheels made and is asking if anyone else wants in. Seems easy enough to ignore if you don't want the wheels. Besides, if you had matching wheel counts front and rear you could theoretically put any square wave ABS system behind them. You wouldn't be restricted to a 4thgen version.
I'd love the wheels but I couldn't kick out 250 right now.
Dude, give it a ****ing rest. You can't understand how others think this would be a good idea so just ignore it. I'm not just saying you don't agree with it, that part is obvious, but you just can't understand how beneficial it would be on a dual duty car.

you are also correct as it does seem easier to ignore and what i posted is kinda not revalant last post...... i was just saying a skilled driver can out perform some abs system on the track....... and vice versa..... dual purpose cars can benifit from ABS on the streets theres no denying that.... i am and still is, interested in ABS, thats why i posted
but after reading other post OP made on diffrent threads had to ask the questions why ?
which why i said i have to see this !
which leads me to the question most people would like to upgrade to LS1 Brakes but any brake upgrade you need to machine the hub
Why couldnt you just machine down S10 Rotors with the Reluctor already included in hub to use in a Big Brake Upgrade, and add dust shield that has sensor built in and go from there ?
i dont know the count diffrence on the two diffirent reluctors havent research im sure its different hence why you need different reluctor only issue is rear sensor
but making a custom front for hub sounds sweet so either way you would need something custom

IIRC, s10 rotors are 52 tooth.

Well, in response to Jetmeck... I saw in another one of your troll post you mentioned ABS and the NE... I'll tell you that ABS saved my butt on a couple of occasions in crappy snowy weather. And yes, the Delco VI ABS as installed on the early 4th gens (except it was on a 93 Cavalier and Grand Prix). And I wasn't even sure it even WORKED on the Cavalier. So, yes, anything that would possibly improve stopping and control in nasty weather would be an improvement. And yes, we all know that a PROFESSIONAL DRIVER WITH YEARS OF EXPERIENCE can outdrive ABS. Since most of us aren't...
For anyone doubting the 4th gen ABS, you should note that 2 systems were used... 93 to 97 (I'd guess) used the Delco VI 3-channel (individual front and combined rear) ABS. 98+ used the Bosch IV 4-channel ABS, controlling each wheel individually and adding traction control (and I guess somehow the cruise function was also a part of the ABS unit as well?).
Second, before you go to cut the hubs, TVP, I would nab a used S10 steering knuckle to find out if the rotors are offset out from the knuckle any more than ours are (to fit the tone ring), otherwise cutting the rotors would be pointless if you couldn't get the spindle through the hub enough to install the outer bearing and retaining nut.

When my abs inop light was on my cruise control would never work so you are right on that part.
I was wrong my 97 has 3 channel. RF/LF/REAR but the controller is marked LF/RF/RR/LR but a port is not drilled for the 4th brake line. So 4 channel must have occured after 97 or was present on Z-28's mine is a V-6

There is nothing useful to what you are trying to do except make money for yourself and get a bunch of people involved in a half *** cluster ****ed system .

Guess you can't drive for **** then, ABS is for women who don't know how to pump the brakes.
It's a cluster **** of an idea by a newbie to the board trying to make a few bucks.
It will never work on these vehicles and it isn't needed, period.
