alternate speaker mount locations
This is probably a stupid question, but is there room to mount speakers right behind the rear seat armrests? I'm talkin about the part that's curved (probably just is the wheel well and has no room underneath for any speakers).
Basically, I'm not into huge bass or anything. I have some Kenwood 4-way 6*9s and some good (forget what brand) 4*6s in the front, along with a bazooka tube with some other speaker in it, which sounds pretty good. It's just not balanced out very well and I don't have any eq or anything like that. Any advice as to where to install a mid-size speaker to generate some more lower-midrange volume? I'll have to look into the kick-panel pods everyone does around here, but I was just looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance

I once saw some hideous boxes attached to the doors of a TA in a used car lot.; Maybe you could get it to look good. Or get an eq. Oh, hey, what about doing something with that wasted space in the passenger side of the dash, on the bottom, where there should be a glove box?

i get ur point... I don't like the idea of mounting an EQ somewhere that I won't even be able to reach it easily (even though I won't need to change it much once it's mounted and set) .. maybe I could do something in the center console, depending on the size of an EQ... I suppose I'm just a little concerned with blowing my 4*6s and I just want something to help them out a little bit. then again I should re-wire everything so that I could fade the rear speakers to be louder

the stocl locations for the speakers i find is horrible for midbass.... if anything i'd spend the money for the EQ on some components and put em in kickpanels.. it really is the easiest way to me

looks like kickpanels are the way to go... thanks for the input
clean looking installation there.. my headunit is a fullsize unit so no room for an EQ =\

who needs an EQ when most decks have them built-in?
I don't want to attract thieves, and I'm assuming there is not a removable face-plate for your EQ.
--
one thing to keep in mind, is on the newer camaros with monsoon setup... they put out as much deep bass as a pair of 10" woofers (they lack in the bass-hit area... but the actual tonal reproduction is amazing)
they do all this with two 4" woofers right above the rear seat armrests...
I looked as hard as I could, and there was no porthole, straight up sailpanel-style like in our cars...
if you can get a badass midbass driver, you could mount them there, and get some good response...
but maybe you'd be better off putting real components in the sail panel area?

yeah I'll have to look into that as well, but first I think I just need to rewire my system so that I can fade the front and back, screw around with the high-pass filters and the 3-band EQ on the headunit. and honestly these cars are so easy to break into (esp with my headunit just sitting in place currently) I'm not in the least bit worried of putting something else in that will persuade someone to break into my car...

so you say these cars are very easy to break into, and you aren't worried about further enticing someone to break in and steal everything?
I think someone hacked into your keyboard.

don't get me wrong, I don't WANT someone to break in and steal my radio, sub, amps, or t-tops or anything else, but i just don't think installing an EQ would be the deciding factor as to whether or not someone would break into my car.
here's a few ways I've broken into mine: 1) pulling the window back to reach my hand inside to hit the unlock button, 2) pulling my window back to unlock the t-tops, and 3) slim jim down along the windowby the lock (easiest of the 3 if you ask me)
damn I really need to install an alarm... haha

My eq doesnt come out, but between me living in a nice place, and all that stereo equipment being like 6 years old, I'm not worried.

FYI luke... it should NOT be possible to move your window that much to reach your hand in there...
for me I had to use a long hanger to push the trunk button....
now I just keep an extra door key in my wallet

Incredible Hulk, eh?
you shouldn't be able to move it very much at all...
lesson learned, don't leave your windows down.

hide a slimjim somewhere on the outside of your car...
apparently you can get in in a matter of seconds... on your first try
or just keep a key in your wallet...
