tweeters in a-pillar

I understand all the sound imagery, i have built tuned sub enclosures too. The tweeters are satalite and can be turned in there mounting pod. My question is... I have a 5" tach mounted right over there on the driver side a pillar. What is the max height i should go on the tweeters to get accuarte sound? I have Rockford 6x9's in the back and pioneer 4x6's upfront. And a single vented audiobahn 10 in the back area. The Sound IS set GREAT!!! the problem is my front speakers don't have enough high's in them and i have tweeters to put in. My dads truck we did the audio with tweeters on his a-pillar and couldnt be happier. Thanks Jake

Re: tweeters in a-pillar

I have a set in my ride installed near the top at about ear level when sitting in the car. Not a specific scientific answer but it works great for me.

You should ditch the dash and sail panel setup all together and do a nice door panel setup, trust me you'll be happier with this upgrade. What tweeters do you have now? You can pick up a nice set of 6.5's and do a really good setup in a pair of door build outs pretty easy and cheap.

Re: tweeters in a-pillar

you want them as far forward as possible, to minimize pathlength differences.. if your head unit has time alignment features, this can be accommodated for, otherwise just as far away from your head as you can and play with the aiming.. likely the best location for tweeters if you can keep the pathlength issue at bay.

Re: tweeters in a-pillar

you can mount the tweeters on the windshield itsa very easy install that requires no drilling holes in the pillars all you need is a hot glue gun you can mount them in the top coners of the windshield just clean the glass real good before you glue them on there

Re: tweeters in a-pillar

you can also mount them to the back of your review mirror. i know that sounds weird...but the sound bounces off the glass back at you. takes some angling obviously. but, the door is probably the best spot....the 6.5 comp set never lets ya down

mines not. its actually been done, obviously some custom work on the mirror, but it sounds ok. its not near as good as a custom door, or a-pillar
