stock stereo blues

I've been hitting up the local junk yards for last 2 weeks and I came across a 87 Camaro with the stock basil and radio. so I grabbed everything that I was looking for off the vehicle and took the radio home the previous owner had ripped up the wiring for the radio so I grab that too. after soldering up all the connections and shrink taping them I plugged in the radio and to my surprise it came on. the power button did not work properly so I did some research and found that I can jump the pink wire for the power antenna. the radio work but it will only stay on for 3 to 5 seconds before shutting off. I have to hit the volume button to turn it back on it keeps time so I know it's not losing power. I've done some research and I'm going to fix the power button properly is there a way to fix the radio totally or is it junk.

Re: stock stereo blues

Sounds like you just need to replace the power button. The pink wire is just a back feed.
