Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

Not the best pic, this isnt the cleanest install, but was easy to hook up. I cut the 2.8 rubber fuel lines, and installed 3/8 barb to 3/8NPT fittings for the feed/ and a 5/16 barb to 3/8npt for the return. I used similar fittings for the feed to the carb/nitrous and installed a pressure guage on the last open port. Im running a 255lph fuel pump, and the regulator does a pretty good job. Fuel pressure is a bit high at idle at 7psi, but at WOT it drops to 6 and holds steady. This winter I will probably install a 3/8th return line to help hold the same pressure at all time.

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

I don't think I have the same set-up. my fuel lines are bent in a 90 then saginal ended.
I think I might do this for a set-u run the 5/16 line up and flare it to a 3/8 NPT return, then run a 90 down from the front port and run a flare/NPT on that as well, then run a 3/8 NPT barbed end and go hose to the feed line to the carb
I'll get pics this weekend if it works the way I am hoping/planning it will

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

Thanks you. It could have been a little cleaner. Instead of having the return line loop around it could have been made with a 90 off the side and a straight shot to the return line, might have had to use a 45. My wife did it so I felt it was best to leave it be.

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

Earls part #'s

Fuel line
9894DBJERL
Female 16mm X 1.5 Saginaw

Return line
9894DBHERL
Female 14mm X 1.5 Saginaw

Those are really the only two special fittings.

Everything is just a 90 or a 45.

Sorry it took so long for me to get you the part numbers.

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

The two fittings that I listed are what you need to go from the factory fuel lines to -6 AN fittings. After that its up to you how you run the lines to the carb and the return line. It's kinda of a pain but not bad. I don't think it's a real good idea to run rubber line with the higher fuel pressure of the TBI and TPI pumps. I guess you could use the high pressure fuel line and double clamp everything.

My regulator is in the same spot on my 383. Pictures are kinda shitty and my engine bay is really dirty. I haven't had the time to clean it as the motor just went into the car.

You will need a 3/8 NPT to -6 AN fitting on the regulator.

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

Yea I am completed running the fuel lines and have 2 questions-
I ran it as follows ->reg mounted to strut tower bolt, bent the factor lines to regulator, flared stardard 45 flares. Ran the return through the bottem and the feed to the front most port through a 90 fitting. The ran thee port facing the motor to the fuel inlet of the carb. Blocked the other 2 ports.
now for the questions
#1 Do i need the "madatory" fuel filter between the reg. and carb? Holley 4160
#2 Does anyone esle adjust their pressure to around 6 psi and get a bouncing needle(fuel gauge) and line problem? Now the only thing i am thinking is if, lets says the return line is clogged then you would think it would bounce more when "more" fuel is returned at a lower PSI not at a higher psi or is the fuel PSI gauge wrong that is in the Y-block for the dual feed in the carb?

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

This is how I have it now as you can see unsafe and ugly. I am going to mount it by the two hard lines. Double clamp rubber hose to the hard lines and run a 3/8NPT to -6AN fitting to -6AN braided hose to the carburetor fuel line inlet. I have that blue jegs carb line with the gauge does anyone know what fitting I need for that? Also If I have a regular fuel filter (under the car) and fuel filters in the carb bowls do I still need yet another fuel filter in between the regulator and inlet?

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

My son and I did a similar install to what you everyone else did. As you can see in the pics not much different.

I didn't know and couldn't find the fittings to go from the car hardline to the npt so I ended up having a custom hose shop make new hoses using the old fitting on the car side of the lines. Turned out real nice, and cost less than $15 (that's just for those two hoses, not the braided lines and other fittings).

The braided line and other fittings are standard stuff like everyone else is using.

Internal,

I haven't had any problem with that setup.

Elcectro,

If you using a big mechanical pump that is putting out more than 7psi you might need some sort of regulator but I don't know how you would return it to the tank.

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

What kind of pressures are you guys setting your carbs to? My car is running really bad and I can't track down why yet. I have a cheap liquid fuel guage on my car. When the car warms up the pressure drops down. I don't know if its the gauge or the fuel pressure is actually dropping. The highest I can get it to go is 9psi and the lowest is 5psi. IIRC I am using a TPI pump. I'm going to check the fuel filter tonight and see if its clogged up.

Thanks.

J

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

Here's how I have mine installed... I used the stock hoses and mounted it to one of the bolts on the strut tower mount plate.

Re: Pics on Mallory #4309 installed

Does anyone have a pic of their setup on a swap from crossfire injection? It appears to me that the supply line is on the passenger side and the return line is on the drivers side with the line that went to the charcoal canister. Thanks.
