Which cars had factory dual fans?
I own a 1991 Camaro Z28 LB9 305 (non-HO) with AC and was wondering if dual fans are factory. I have dual fan but the second fan (pass. side) seems to be just spliced into the power wires to the primary fan. Seems hacked.

(from what I can tell/read) ....
All dual fan cars were factory TPI cars. BUT - not all factory TPI cars had dual fans.

Yeah, I've seen lots of 5.0 TPIs with single fans. No idea why it was one way or the other though??

Re: Which cars had factory dual fans?
only the 85-86 (first years) TPI would have had single fan. 87 was a bastard/crossover year for the dual fan (wiring) and then from there, any TPI had duals, AFIK, not 100% fact.

I have to go through the wiring and see what this guy did and why. I assume if he jumpered the 2nd fan there may have been an issue of the car overheating in the past. Root issue may be a relay, sensor, etc. Found meself a bit of work to make it right.

My 1988 Camaro Iroc 305cid came with a single fan without A/C and my 1989 Firebird TA 305cid came with dual fans with A/C.

I guess the OP led me to falsely believe we were taking about standard off the lot cars and not special order a/c delete and 1le cars... stupid me. I didn't clarify I was talking about standard cars as well. Sorry.

Re: Which cars had factory dual fans?
I cant find a replacement fan temp switch at 230deg like stock. closest is a 200on/185off at Summit. My engine is completely stock including thermostat. Is this range okay?
ie: thermostat is 195 so if the temp switch was waiting for 185 to turn off it may never see it since flow cuts out at 195. I do have the thermostat out right now, maybe get a 180 to match the switch.

Re: Which cars had factory dual fans?
with electric fans, best to have then come on about
10-15*above thermostat temperature so they will be
off under most conditions when the car is in motion
instead of being on all the time wearing down the
motor brushes and pulling current.
If i had a third with dual fans,i would be really tempted
to wire the two fans in parallel(with seperate fuse for
each so if one fan is jammed or shorts out the other
will still operate)and use an aftermarket varible speed
fan controller.
