Recommendations for TBI-TPI wiring harness
I have a 92 RS with a TBI that I'm planning to switch to TPI next summer (until I can build a 350 RamJet). I'm considering using a Commander 950 or a DFI to run the system. I've seen some threads on harness's, but nothing specific on TPI conversions.
What would you guys recommend for the wiring harness? Modify the TBI harness, a TPI harness from Holley or Accel, a GM TPI harness or Painless harness?
Is there any issue with VATS and standalone ECM's that need to be worked around?
Thanks,

Id leave the stock ecu hooked up for vats amoung other things and run a holley mpfi harness. Im actually not familiar with VATS(locks right?) but I was told by a freind in cincinatti that he did a repin and subsequntly drac is uneffected.
I left my 747 all hooked up and didnt cut the oem harness up. I neatly taped it up in the engine compartment with the sensor pigtails taped to the main route of the stock harness along the firewall and none of it is visible or in the way.
The repin is not worth the trouble IMO. I had the choice and clearly the easiest way is not to do a repin, even more so on a tbi to mpfi as you would have to new pin two additonal drivers.
Even with the 950 fuel pump wire green and black , you just run it to the stock pump relay and no need to mess with it either.
Again IMO the easiest way to run it would be to leave the factory ecu and harness in the car. You can even retain the Stock motorla hooked up and use some of the oem connections in addtion to the holley, like for example. I used a holley harness which makes it plug and play to the hilt with a stock harness still inplace because even the stock ign power off the harness to the coil was retained. And again the stock relay for the fuel pump was utilized by a simple connection.
Some of it would depend on what fuel system you use though, as I am guessing the tbi fuel lines could be subject to an upgrade for mpfi pressures, in line pump, etc.
Does the ecu control VAT? If so ,(and) if not , Id still retain the stock ecu/harness, no repin, and holley mpfi harness. Just my 2 cents.

ACTUALLY
the easiest way is to not repin anything and just use a stock GM harness.
you unplug your harness... put the TPI one on, plug in the ECM to the new harness and your dash harness.... thats it for wiring.
you do have to splice 2 power wires from what ive been told. other then that, its almost plug and play.
now if you wanted a TPI MAF system to go to SD then you have to repin.

Thanks for you input guy's.
Yes, in part. The ecu checks a chip in the ignition key and desides to let the car start or not. VATS also has a seperate way to disable the starter, but I just learned how to get around that part.
Does the ecu control VAT?
