Ive searched but cant find anything about it. Its a 91 Camaro RS 305 and it takes 5 minutes of driving until the speedo starts to work fine. After its all warmed up i can turn the car off and start it up later 15 minutes and the speedo will work fine. But after the car cools it will take 5 minutes of driving to work again. what could this be?

Posting year, make and model is helpful.

In your original post you failed to mention, for example, the make and year. Camaro speedos were cable driven from 82-89, which might lead a diagnosis in one direction. From 90+ they were electric, which might lead to another diagnosis altogether. I wish you the best of luck in finding a fix for your problem.

"Ive searched but cant find anything about it. Its a 91 Camaro RS 305"......maybe you should clarify that it is not an 1891 or a 2091?? It is electric and I know nothing about them, but if you have to run it for 5 minutes before it works, could it be a heat issue, kinda like a cold solder joint?

Yes
enough with the joke guys. This was posted in the electrical section for a reason!!! i shouldn't have to clarify that its a 1991. there were no Camaros in 1891 nor is it even close to 2091. i just want opinions for possible speedometer solutions
Uh, actually if you read that closer you'd have realised I was goofing on the other guy, not you! But then I realized you didn't actually have that info in your original post, so technically he was right. Didn't mean to offend you, was just goofing around.
PS: I also tried to help at the end of that reply.

Yes
Does your cruise control work when the speedometer doesn't? That would indicate a speedometer or dash wiring problem.
If the cruise doesn't work when speedometer is dead, it would be a problem either in the yellow "buffer box" or upstream, possibly the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor).
From your post, I get the impression that it might be the VSS that needs the transmission to heat a little to engage the gears and start spinning. Have you checked the VSS yet? Are the gears alright?
