Finally Formula hood scoop gauges
This subject has been brought up before, and I don't believe it was accomplished. I got tired of looking at the blank black space behind the hood and started to look for gauges. It was a tough challenge, the space on the hood opening is only a little over an inch. I finally found a gauge made by the Koso motorcycle gauge company https://kosonorthamerica.com/ that fit perfectly, its only an inch high and water resistant. There are three gauges, one temp for the engine, one for the transmission and a volt meter. The selection for the one inch mini gauges is small. The gauges are only a helf inch thick and are designed to be attached to handle bars with velcro. I JB welded a stud plate and mounted them with two small machine screws.

Cool, I'm 3D printing my own and have 1" "amber" (more yellow) segmented LEDs to read out AFR and an LED Bar Graph to read out boost. Has to run Arduino.
I like yours. Good job. Beat me to it.

Not digital but I put these in my scoop of my 89 in the early 90s. Lights dim with the dash lights. The VHO formulas had some in the late 80s, 87 or so?

Thank you guys for the nice comments. It took me year and a half to figure this out.
Anxious to put it into the car. The only problem that I might have is that the display is not dimmable with the headlights. If its too bright at night, I can put a polarizing filter in front of it. And just as a side note. I will use a filter sandwich with fittings to get the oil temp and go in line with the trans cooler for that temp.

Hi PMD, yes they do have a tach and its not expensive. The way it works is you wrap the sensor wire around one of your spark plug wires and set it for either 4 - 6 - or 8 cyclinders.
Its just a few mm's larger than as the small gauges that I used, so it will fit.

Re: Finally Formula hood scoop gauges
Ct1987, those gauges look great! I just purchased a used digital tach that was in the 1984-85 Buick Skylarks and Chevy Citations. Part number 25517781. It looks to be just under an inch tall and is probably 6in wide. I'm predicting it will fit in that cowl perfectly but will likely need a Dakota digital signal converter to work properly as its for 2.5L motors. It's going in my 92 Formula and I'll post it up once I get it and start, but want to post it up in case anyone else wanted to try and do something similar.

Hi Guys,
I have not had the chance to post some more photos. the gauges are working great, a little glare in the direct sun, otherwise nice. Its great to see the temp of the engine, trans, water and voltage. I am considering a fuel/air ratio gauge, but the one from this company is over 200 dollars.
