Milodon High Volume Water Pump - Serpentine

Hey all,

I just finished switching all of my brand new cooling system from my 350 Suburban to the 454, and the water pump does not interchange between the small block and big block. It's a Milodon High-Volume pump with only 12k miles on it. I installed it last summer to help keep the beast cool towing my boat and everything I owned down to Texas in the middle of August. It kept it below 165 degrees the entire way (at 70-75 mph in 100+ degree heat), and I had it weighed in at the truck stop at 11,000 lbs with the trailer.

In my opinion, its the best waterpump out there for the cost. I'm running one on my 454 too. The only other pump I trust is the Edelbrock 8881, which is what I have on my GTA. These are very sturdily built, and it made a big difference over stock in cooling. It runs $89 new from Summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MIL-16213/. I'm asking $45 plus the ride.

I installed it after doing a double system flush with Peak Radiator Flush. After the flush, I drained ALL coolant from the engine until it was running straight distilled water. I then added the proper amount of concentrated Peak Lifetime Antifreeze to bring it up to a 50/50 mixture over the complete system (complete capacity given by the factory service manual). I also added Water Wetter additive for the seals. The motor it was on only had 30k on it (the pump went on at the same time that I put the Vortec heads on, and it was clean as a whistle inside). There's still a huge amount of life in the pump, I'd say it's barely broke in.

I'll mark it as soon as it's sold.

In case you didn't click on the link, this is a reverse rotation water pump for an '88-up Serpentine Belt system small block.

Things that go bump in the night...

Summer's here. Somebody might really need this to help keep you cool through the heat.

Thanks for the bump! I'll get the intake listed eventually. Right now, it's only purpose is to keep the elements out of my engine. That's the 35k mile 350 Vortech motor out of my '90 Suburban. It's going on an engine stand for a year or two until I get the time to drop it underneath a high-flow TPI setup with a mild roller cam in the GTA.
