cat back exhust '85 z28
I am looking for a new cat back exhaust for my son's car and not having much luck. I find plenty of H & E body options but only two for the F vin code. One is Borla (very pricey) and the other a Magnaflow with very moderate sound. I would like a very aggressive sound. I am not very knowledgeable (mechanically) and would appreciate recommendations, thanks.

Maybe search the manufacturer websites and look for options and then try your favorite retailers website with the part number???

Might look around Dynomax.com for a system that would work for this. Well made with moderate price. The Ultra Flow is a pretty good sounding muffler for this engine.

Any/all of the cat-back exhausts for these cars will fit yours, with one minor catch. Which is, the 4-bolt cat flange. There are several strategies for adaptation; have a flange made and attached to the I-pipe, is probably the best.

If u want to hear about different mufflers/sounds, check out
the daninator on youtube.
My advice for a muffler would be just some real short glasspack muffler, or try it without a muffler, then u know what size/lenght muffler u need, if the car has the cat in place, it might not be too loud even if the muffler is very short like some dynomax bullet "muffler".
Hooker aerochamber sounds great but in my opinion only if there is no cat in place, but its a matter of an opinion. Just try some cheap cherry bomb muffler like the M-80 muffler, no worries about them cat-backs either, if some don't fit, a muffler shop can alter them and weld them, regular exhaust clamps are a pain in the neck sometimes because they tend to squeeze the pipe so, that its frustrating to take a muffler or exhaust piece off, exhaust clamp sleeves are easier on the pipe, meaning easy to take a muffler or exhaust pipe off if needed.
Some nice sounding exhaust systems are GMMG, but quite pricey. If u want loud, straight pipe it is, but straight pipe sound might get old real quick if u have a headache 😵💫
And always remember to make the exhaust design/system well made that it doesn't end up being leaky or too short exhaust pipe or anything, because carbon monoxide is no joke.
