He seems to know enough,
Admittedly, I do not think its worth $10,000 but probably closer to $7,000. Yellow or not.
The SLP option was a dealer added option that you could have put on your car, I think it included the runners, exhaust, and a chip.

Well If I had an SLP equiped car, knew about it, and wanted to sell it, at least I would have mention the fact in my auction!
Alex has the best documentation IMHO:

Kit included, cold air box(for 91-92) runners, chip, headers and cat back .. and i think the oil pan and under drive pulleys were optional.. I have some dealer info on it some where
Edit they also had a sitcker that was supposed to be put on the rad support showing which options you had the dealer installed so you didn't have to have them all installed... I have a pic of that also

Gotcha... I read SLP GTA in your post, and I thought it read that on e-bay... Your correct tho, I think it makes it slightly more desirable, but not a whole lot.
Considering it was a "Dealer added option" I am not sure what the long term effects it may have on the value of the car.
If I take it to the Trans Am Nationals, am I still eligable for the Stock Class? I think that may be a good question. Not to him but wether or not it "adds value" to the car.

Dont think its a SLP car anyhow.
Doesnt have headers or the cold air, so it more than likley got a set of runners slapped on it somewhere down the line.
mmmmmmmmm Jamacain yellow. Love that color. Got pics of 1LE Formula 00001 1992 TPI 5 spd when i was at the TA Nats.
love that cat

Man, that GTA did not even bring a bid as much as what it sold for on eBay last time.... It sold in the fall of '03 for $7500; I tried to make a play for it then but was unable to get it. It does appear to be in better condition than the one that was floated around for sale earlier this year at $11,700.
John, I would think the car's value would not be hurt so long as the documentation were with it concerning the SLP kit.... paperwork, underhood stickers, etc. After all, it was approved by GM and sold through GM dealers. So some of the "modified" stigma would probably not be there.
With my experiences with the T/A Nationals, it would almost depend on who was "tech-ing" the car as to how it would be classed. Some judges would probably let it slide because you could buy the parts from GM, whereas others would frown greatly on it and probably put you in "heavy modified".
I do know that the year I took my Notchback GTA up there, they tried to put me in the "light modified" class....

There was a guy at a local show with a... *cough* 4thgen *cough* Firehawk (100% stock, still covered in plastic) and he got stuck in the modified class.
Does depend on who's doing the tech. Same guy let a 66 GTO with incorrect motor and various dress up/performance parts into the stock class.

In this case the following definition of "Expert" holds true:
Ex or "X" is ( commonly used in mathematics as "unknown" )
Spert or "Spurt" is (noun: A sudden, swift stream of ejected liquid under pressure )
Therefore "X"+"Spurt" = an unknown drip under pressure
