1985 factory gold trans am
Hey guys. Names Allan. I picked up this third gen out of a barn in Canada a year and a half ago. And I can’t find out much for history on this colour. So I’m gonna assume it’s rare. But here it is. 1985 trans am. Sport suspension package. Air tilt cruise power windows, power locks, electronic pop hatch, 305 with 700r4 and 4.10 gears. ttops and razor back
supposedly came out of the states originally. Doing some work on fixing it up. Put some new copper cobras on it last year. Back ones are already worn out.

I really like that color and it is very rare, according to Robert Casey’s book that color, if original, is light chestnut metallic. According to the book approximately 1647 were that color in the US and only 23 in Canada. It was the rarest Firebird color in 85’.
That color also reminds me of the solar gold available on the late second gens, a very sharp color on those cars as well part of the Y88 package IIRC.

wow. Didn’t know that’s how many were actually painted that color. Nice to know how many of my cars were made. Guess I’ll never find another one in Canada lol

Those figures you quoted are "estimated" based on Camaro figures and are not actual as that information is not available.
Also, when working with figures, some sources exclude or include the Canada/export figures.

I like that color. I don't think I ever saw one in person. I have an old book on Firebirds that covers the first three generations. One of those cheap coffee table books that mall bookstores like Walden Books used to sell. There's a pic in there of a gold third gen just like this one (less the louvers) with the chapter title, "America's Best GT."

85s weren't tbi. None of them. the carb you have could've been there since it left the factory. And also, someone could've come along and swapped to a different carb....pointless but they could've.
