turn signal lever swap

Car: 2004 Silverado SS
Engine: 6.0L LQ9
Axle/Gears: 4.10 AWD
turn signal lever swap

i just bought my 1988 gta, and the turn signal lever looks like crap and the guy gave me a new one from gm to swap in, so my question is, how?

Grab it by the base (the part of it that doesnt rotate), push in, and turn CCW about 1/4 turn. It should then pull out, it might take a little wiggling though. The wire for it runs down the column, and plugs in under the dash. Unplug it, pull the old wire out, and fish the new wire down the column, then install the new one.

thats it? seriously!?! i was thinking i would need to take the steering column apart similar to when i had to tighten it.

Just be easy and dont strip out the little tit in the column that it sets in.

same procedure on camaros. i cant seem to get it out. and also there is no part on the lever that dosent rotate becuase of the intermittent wiper option?? any ideas

In my camaro it takes some force to make the turn signal go down or up not like u have to pull on it but there is some resistance on it is that normal?

And is this the procedure for fixing a stuck turn signal? As in, one where the stalk doesn't automatically return when steered straight.

I think thats actually part of the switch inside the steering column. This is for swapping out the lever itself...

IS THE PROCEDURE THE SAME ON CAMAROS AS TRANS AMS is what im asking because ive been told i have to remove the lock plate assembly as well

It should be the same procedure for both f-bodies. Both swapping out the lever and swapping out the switch the lever controls inside the column...
