Putting an overhead console in a car without one

Hey guys, I've been checking out these overhead consoles for my 87 Firebird, and I have a question.

Could I put one up there, even though the car came without one and wasn't really manufactured to hold one?

I have a feeling I can't but i thought it would be cool to put one up there...

Sure you can.

BTW, buy one complete or you'll be searching parts forever--the flashlight alone can go for $30 and up.

Purchase an overhead for a coupe and you'll be good to go. You might advertise in our classifieds.

Yes it should work for you. There is one listed in the classified here. I don't remeber if its for a hard top or T-top but it comes with everything including the flash licht and wiring

Re: Putting an overhead console in a car without one

I've installed one in my hardtop, fairly easy to do. Hardest thing is summoning up the courage to start hacking into a perfectly good headliner.
Just make sure you get one with the mounting screws, you can get them off flea bay seperately though.

Very True! Did you hold your breath as you started to actually cut into the headliner? I know I did. Once you cut into it there is no turning back. Super easy to install though.
