Water leaking in passenger rear seat

Ok so I have a 1986 TTop Iroc Z. I had water leaking in the rear seat. I replaced both rear hinges, hinge gaskets, hinge bolts, and new rear hatch seal. Also, I made sure the hatch is adjusted perfect. The hatch motor does not work for the auto pull down. I noticed today I still have water spots in the rear seat from recent rains. Can anyone guide me on where to look next? I plan on replacing the t top seals as well. Appreciate any help.

Re: Water leaking in passenger rear seat

You really need to pull the trim and headliner and have someone run a garden hose over ttops and hatch hinge to body area.
the hinge to body needs a sealant around the bolts and between the washers/spacers or water leaks down in there.

The ttops can cause water back there if the sealants have gone bad. Its not always the seals.

Re: Water leaking in passenger rear seat

Maybe - Just Maybe --------> Check the screws that were used to install the rear headliner trim panel.

These screws should be VERY short. I once had a car where the previous owner installed screws that were too long and put holes in the roof. The holes he made were "hidden" in the channel under the hatch glass,...only found them after removing the headliner screws and seeing how long they were.

Just 1 more place your leak *MIGHT* be coming from !

Re: Water leaking in passenger rear seat

Wanted to give an update. I pulled the ttop seals out and discovered two rust holes in the channel. That is where my water was coming from. I patched the wholes and will be installing new ttop seals this weekend.
