Mecham Racing Daytona 500 MSE

Getting this project back on the road. Some videos to share of the first time back on the road, not tuned yet. Don't know how much horsepower. Hope you enjoy.

Mecham Racing 1983 Daytona 500 MSE
1983-95

Signed and authenticated by Dennis Mecham. I've known him for a while and this is my 4th thirdgen and second Mecham car. (I had a 1986 Macho#21 at one time).

Exterior: Repainted to the original Mecham War Paint by Heath Elmer Restorations. Heath had the black 86 Macho, numerous MSE's and Macho's, black Magnum IROC, and a Macho Z. Heath also supplies all of the graphics to Mecham Design. All Mecham Badges and Graphics present.

Interior: Redone to Daytona 500 and Mecham Specs with the Mecham Tach and Speedo, Mecham Steering Wheel, and Badges. Original Floor Mats.

Suspension: Mecham Talon Suspension all powdercoated with Energy Suspension Bushings. Eibach Springs. Koni Shocks. 1LE Sway Bars. Currently 1984 15th Anniv. Wheels - Original Daytona Wheels in Storage

Engine: 406". 11:1 compression. 400 block with billet main caps. SRP/JE Pistons. Lunati Pro Mod Billet Crank and Rods. Procharger P600b supercharger. Ported Victor Jr. Intake and Heads. Jesel Rockershaft System. Comp Cams Solid Roller Cam. TPI Serpentine System. QuickFuel Carb. Mecham Tri-Y Headers linked to a 4" Single Exhaust that was out of Heath's '85 Macho when he parted it out. 4" Flowmaster Muffler.

I am hoping to get this back on the road and start hitting some drives with some fellow thirdgens.

Dan.

Dennis Mecham and my son.

Great ride, Dan. What does it need to get back on the road? Just fluids and post-storage "stuff"?

Re: Mecham Racing Daytona 500 MSE

Thanks for the kind words. It needs weatherstripping, tires (don't know if I should run the original wheels or the ones on it now....or maybe some others but it is hard to get a wheel to look right with the daytona colors), tuning and registration. I trailered it for the vids and that was the first time I have driven it since putting it back together. Fun to drive it again.

Kymmee.....thanks, Dennis is a cool guy, wealth of knowledge and a real gearhead. Great stories of when he employed Steve Saleen, interactions with Pontiac, etc. The phone on his website is his cell.

Thanks drdan1341. I have actually had several phone conversations with Dennis when restoring our MSE. You are right, he is a cool guy and did share a few stories with me. I may just take a trip out to AZ, to meet him in person.

Re: Mecham Racing Daytona 500 MSE

Very nice and rare car you have there. Dennis has always been a nice guy. My dad told me stories about Dennis from when he bought his 82 MSE new back in 82 and got the 83 upgrade parts from him. Even talked to him a few years back when I was looking for a few things for my current 82 MSE.
