what kinda of car do you have ?
Have you tried to remove the belt for the ac ? if it is ran by a dedicated belt remove it, it will stop the ac compressor pully from spinning.
or is it all ran by 1 serpentine belt ?

i have an 89 trans(305tpi) and it is all by one belt!i check alll bolts and they are tight! i would emagine its the belt but whenyou look at it (when its running) it looks like the whole ac compressor and bracket is loose!

well couple things
you say it looks like the ac compressor and bracket is loose ?
but you checked all bolts anf tight ?
Does the belt feel tight ?
does the pulley for the ac feel loose when you grab it ? (engine off of course LOL)
I am not sure of a temporary way to bypass the ac without a ac delete pully
and new belt,
IF the ac compressor is bad the shaft will sometimes get real loose and noisy
anyone correct me if I am wrong but to fix, you may need to
a. replace the compressor
b. delete the ac compressor (remove it and probably have to use a "ac delete pulley"

well napa list several but the cheapest was $174.00
but if it is indeed the commpresor or the clutch on the comp
you could still bypass it,(AC Delte pully) cheaper I think than a new compressor, no AC of course.
