any pics? what all did you do? Still have to put then key in, but just push the start button? Or did you rig up something kinda like the newer cars?

no, no pics, not gonna post any because its in a discrete location. i dont have the know how to do something like the newer cars, so it only works when the keys on ignition. the button can crank the starter, but it wont fire up unless the keys on.

as for rough step by step....

materials=


(2) [if sold in packs] 12 gauge wire (12awg) different color for each wire
(1) push button switch, make sure its an OFF-ON-OFF switch, not a OFF-ON switch. this shouldnt be an issue if its a Starter Switch
(1) in-line fuse for the 12V
(1) 30amp fuse
and your choice of wire connectors, butts, quick splices etc...


find a good, hard to reach location for your button. why hard to reach? so that you wont hit it accidentally while driving.

once you decide on that pick a suitable sized push button switch.
i chose a 60amp switch, but i think 30amp should suffice

always disconnect your battery!!
remove whatever paneling you need to to mount your switch, run your wiring... drill if necessary...

i ran one 12awg wire directly to the battery with the fuse in line, since i have a battery post terminal for audio accesories.

the second 12awg wire goes to your starter solenoid on the S terminal

then run each one of these wires to either side of the switch.... one wire per screw, dummie.

connect your battery... test that baby out. if alls good... NOW mount your switch and check for flaws, loose screws etc. and voila all done, simple, and CHEAP! only cost me 15 bucks. and i dont know jack about electrical!!

this will work great for those of you who experience heat soak from hot uncoated or unwrapped headers. which is what i was experiencing. later down the line i will be wrapping my starter to preserve its longevity. ok thats all folks!

yeah i would
it was simple enough to do, considering i have only slight, basic electrical knowledge. and the coolness factor of starting your car with a push button doesnt wear out for a while
