fastest reaction time possiable

fastest reaction time possiable
I can't tell you how many times I have gone to the 1/4 to run my cars but I never payed much attention to my reaction times since I never raced a class there. I just did the test and tune watched mph, 1/4 and 60' for the most part. now I thought a .000 was perfect but it looks like it would be a red light if this site is correct... www.rbracing-rsr.com/nhraxtree.html
are they wrong?

That's actually an interesting question.
Best R/T I've ever gotten was a .006 on my bike. All 4 launches that day had r/t's less than .2
It was a good day.

A perfect light is .000 on a pro and full tree. Years ago, the timing system was set up so that .500 was a perfect light on a full tree and .400 was a perfect light on a pro tree. Now with .000 as a perfect light, anything below .000 is too quick and is a red light.
With the old system, .450 on a full tree was a red light and .450 on a pro tree was a green light.
You can easily have a very fast reaction time but you can be too fast and red light. The best reaction time you can have without red lighting is .000.

Re: fastest reaction time possiable
the track i go to has same old bulbs and a .500 tree.. its a really old, non-profit track so its not a problem.. it works just fine with normal problems once in a while.. fastest i got was a .513 .. usually in the .540-.560 range.. but last month i had 3 red lights cause the damn drag radials decided to "hook" harder or not spin as much.. after i nailed numberous .53x lights..

Re: fastest reaction time possiable
There's nothing wrong with them, but I remember locally when our tracks started to make the change, ALL the old school drivers where having problems with them, 20+yrs racing with a certain light that you can literally see it:
start to light up
lit
start to fad out
and we/they used to hit the tree during one of those phases of the lighting process, once we switched to LED's I and other drivers that had to leave on the inital hint of light took to them like a duck to water and it's made my lights just that much more consistant and killer, but it took a looong time for some of the old school boys to re adjust LOL!!!

Re: fastest reaction time possiable
actually yes! and its an IHRA (was NHRA until 2006) track too....Coastal Plains dragway in North Carolina!!! They have this think called Midnight madness, it like pinks/street racing but its heads up only, pretty much grudge racing. They turn all the lights and unscrew all the lights on the tree accept for the prestage/stage bulbs, then a guy flags and they race like it was on the street, the first person that crosses gets the win light, no slips or anything.

I've had a perfect light of .000 1 time...had a bunch of .00x-.01x. that was with my 78 T/A that I ran alot with.
These days with my GTA and lack of seat time i'm happy with a .100!

Re: fastest reaction time possiable
It just all depends on what timing system they are using. a .500 is the same as a .000 The system that shows it as .000 is just assuming the .4 or the .5 being there depending on the tree. Huntsville dragway uses .0000. Last year I was -.0009 RED on the pro tree.
