C6 Z06 brakes vs. CTS-V brakes?

I did a search, but maybe I missed it. I'm interested in learning about the pros & cons of a C6 Z06 upgrade vs the CTS-V upgrade. Which is the superior setup? Visually I prefer the C6 Z06 look, but I'm not doing the upgrade for looks.

However... I do want it to have the right "look" from front to back. Are there kits that utilize the C6 Z06 or CTS-V rear calipers so I can match the front?

Re: C6 Z06 brakes vs. CTS-V brakes?

I believe Ed has a c6 z06 rear kit, but he doesn't have a cts-v rear kit. The reason I didn't go with the c6 z06 kit was because each piston has its own brake pad (6 small pads per front caliper). With the cts-v kit, you must grind down part of the caliper, so that it clears the bracket to spindle bolts. The z06 caliper is clocked up higher than the cts-v caliper.

Re: C6 Z06 brakes vs. CTS-V brakes?

The Z06 PBR (china) calipers aren't as good as they may seem and the individual pads are cumbersome. The Z06 guys upgrade to better stuff like brembos (MovIt) They do look good.

I think the Carbotech company make a 1 piece pad for the C6 Z06 brakes.
Check this website out.

I have the C6 Z06 brakes and maybe will get the 1 piece pad after my brake pads wear out.

If you plan to do any performance driving with the C6 Z06, these pads are a must. They greatly increase braking performance (lots more surface area). The pads fit as if they were oem. When you check pricing on them, keep in mind they are a ONE OFF pad. As in no other caliper uses that pad shape. Money well spent imo.

I didn't have to grind anything on my CTS-V calipers.

OP: it's hard to beat a well designed 4 pot caliper. Given the choice, I would probably go with the Brembo designed 4 pot over the PBR designed 6 pot (actually, I did ).

Re: C6 Z06 brakes vs. CTS-V brakes?

I'm becoming a fan of the 2010 SS Brembos. The calipers are virtually identical to the CTS-V. The rotors are similar as well but have the 5 bolt pattern we need, although they're not bolt on. The center register has to be bored out a bit, but when you address that issue your brakes can look like this. I used a C6 ZO6 for fit up but I'll update it with the SS rotor in a few days:

I thought the new camaro bolt pattern was a bigger diameter than our 4 3/4"?

Yes, 2010 Camaro SS 14" Brembo 4 piston, and I'm working on it.

Apparently the stud holes are bigger in diameter but a 5 x 4.75" hub works great, once you enlarge the center register hole. I dropped the rotors off for plating today so they should be back by Wednesday of next week. I'll post a shot or two if I can, I'm busy as always.

Ok, here we go. Rotors got back from the plater today. Note how these calipers have a high mounted banjo fitting vs. the low fitting location on the CTS caliper. The Brembo castings are identical.

Re: C6 Z06 brakes vs. CTS-V brakes?

so how large are these brakes? 14" like the CTSV's?

any chance of these fitting under 17" ws6 wheels?

Re: C6 Z06 brakes vs. CTS-V brakes?

14" x 1.25" just like CTSVs and C6 ZO6, and I doubt they'll fit 17"s.

Yo Ed, will there be matching rears for this setup? I been thinking about doing this with the C6 z06 rotors I have now (never ordered the CTS-V calipers). How much did you bore that center reg? I'm thinking about a 19"/20" setup, I got the space.
