It helped a lot. I was able to read the codes (34) which pointed me to a bad MAF sensor. After covering all the other possibilities, I finally bought another one. That and a TPS adjustment solved...

I found the ECM in my mailbox today. It was probably delivered yesterday, but I didn't check (my mailbox isn't the most convenient thing to get to...it's half a block away in the wrong direction.)...

I'm not sure about carbureted F-bodies, but on CCC G-bodies (81-88) the choke light was actually the low oil pressure light. That caused a lotta flat cams.

Upsidedowngrl makes a good point. Vacuum hoses on car of that age can crack and leak and cause the thing to run terrible.

There's another way to find vacuum leaks, but ya gotta be real careful. ...

My 88 2.8/T-5 Camaro idles high (about 1500 rpm) until the car comes to a complete stop. Then it drops to 750-800 the way I think it should idle.

First things first. If you don't know how old the plugs/wires/cap/rotor are, replace 'em.

I'm not positive about 3rd gen F-bods, but other GM series (particularly G-bods, with which I'm more familiar) use a return line from fuel pump to the tank (they're mechanical pumps) and a 3rd line...
