Hey guys and gals, I am having an issue with my tach in my 84 Z28 H.O. car. Every time I start the car the needle spins all the up and just sits there until I shut the car off and go to start it...

It only takes a couple minutes for oil to contaminate oil. If your oil pressure is fluctuating then you probably have a bad rod. Keep us posted on the condition of the bearings. Was the car...

Yeah, do the head gaskets and oil change before starting the car again. if the clatter continues after that let me know and I will try to point you in the right direction.

Sorry for the late reply. Got the car running, idling fine at lights. I adjusted the idle up and it stayed running. Still do not know what the idle is at but it stayed running. It bogged and died...

Adjusted the idle up and it stayed running but didn't have a chance to really test it. The driver side head gasket blew. So, I will get back to this posting either tomorrow or Wednesday.

That sounds like what I might wind up having to do. I really can not afford to buy the new manifold and new carb, but if I can just do that I will. Do I just use the standard gasket kit then?
