try a decent cam (0.450/0.460 lift) some vortec heads,headers,intake,exhaust and your mind will be blown....i had an LG4,now i have an LG4+++

that was 92 octane,87 is $1.40 a liter or $5.60 a gallon roughly

$50 barely got me over half a tank ...try canada at $1.60 a liter x 4(aprx) = $6.40 a gallon

thanks,im in no hurry to change it and im quite happy with the performance.i do however miss the undeniable low end grunt of the 5.7 tpi i had in my old iroc but the standard trans adds a new element...

the 6th gen ss is 3800 pounds ,that is with a v8 obviously and an automatic but i digress...500-700 pounds heavier ,albeit with a whole lot more power..just cant get over the ugliness of the 5th/6th...

if you have a carbed third gen(which you do) just use a spark plug socket and a wrench on the end of it.sometimes you can also use a wrench or modify the socket and make it shorter.

i installed a freshened up set of 1997 vortec heads(L31) i shaved about 0.025"-0.03" off (but oddly the LG4 had dished pistons and from my understanding the 1986 LG4's are supposed to be flat tops,go...
