the buttons have little snaps that lock around the harness plug you just have to gently pry them out (it's like 2 one top one bottom IIRC) and pull; with the clips released they are simply press fit...

The item you mention with the 3 coils is a resistor, this controls the speed for your blower fan, so You cannot remove that.

On MY T/A clone I did it just like Ward said, I got into the car with the trim off and had a buddy hold the latch down and I marked where to drill through the pulldown brackets to make the latch...
