Timing "all in" is about 30 degrees (6000 rpm)- any higher and i start to get pinging under a load - i disconnected the vaccum advance to try and get less spread between the idle and all in... that...

adding .050" to the pushrod would be the same as adding .050" to the cam lobe if I'm not mistaken. The valve lash would remain the same (hydraulic flat-tappit) so the rocker would be pushed up .050"...

To do your 350 - I went with a internal balanced 383 crank so i could use my 350 harmonic balancer... If you have a 400 sbc and a 350, you'd be best off to get the 400 crank machined to the 350...

The camshaft you suggested would provide 7.266 dynamic... we're talking 0.535 difference in dynamic compression ratio (same static of 10.3:1)... Which could make the difference of me being able to...

IMHO, Probably better off to stick with the xe262h. You'll only have to swap out new lifters with the cam, and probably wont have to touch your valve springs.

yeah - a "show cam" with 243 intake duration and 257 exaust. (295/313 advertised) I guess the only thing that could be improved is the lobe seperation to give it a little bit more "real cam" power.

you could try a vacuum gauge to set your timing. you're timing is set pretty good when you have maximum smooth deflection on your gauge. Make sure you are using manifold vacuum, not modified.
