Even if they did get 325hp I'm sure it was on an engine dyno, using dyno headers, turning no accessories, etc.

If that is supposed to be a link it isn't. Even with out seeing a link, I can tell you your transmission will hold up just fine assuming it is in good running order.

Max vortec lift on unmodified heads is usually between .470-.480. Best way to go is have the guides cut down to gain more lift. Some people, including myself, use GM LS6 springs with comp retainers....

Many times the numbers are covered in a layer of grime. Take a wire brush and a small mirror and you should be able to get a decent look.

Behind the driver side head are some numbers. Those numbers will tell you what the motor is. If it is a vortec, it should also say 5.7l back there. What is the motor out of?

If you want a higher horsepower motor and it be a daily driver lsx would be the way to go. Power is easy to make and they get pretty good fuel economy.

A $1000 will get you no where near the 300whp in a 305. Like said above, that will pretty much only cover a good exhaust upgrade.

I would say you'll need more compression, a much larger cam, and better heads to do it n/a. Im sure boost will get you there quicker but then you will want to look into a forged bottom end.
