I would say to replace EVERYTHING. Inner/Outer tie rods and adjusters, idler arm, drag link, sway bar bushings and end links, ball joints, and control arm bushings.

I'm not sure what you mean. The old parts were "evacuated" because they had a leak. Nothing was left in the parts except for nasty oil(s). It started leaking R12 a few years ago, so I limped along...

Hmm, based on what they were doing, then, the only possibilities are a bad ground or the starter took a dump coincidently at the same time.

five7kid means: the OP needs to replace his valve stem seals.

Worn out stem seals are what is causing the white smoke from the exhaust.
