Get a TH350 and then you will really have a badass car and a tranny that won't break.
Sucks on the freeway though, but I don't think your car is a daily driver
Id get the manual valve body if I was to do mine over again

No its not a daily driver but I live right by the beltway. So freeway driving is a must.
Manual valve body means you have to bump through the gears if your out of drive....... right?

if built right (and I think Owen is more than capable of that) a 700 should stand up to an 11 sec car (maybe high 11's)--talk to Owen about that!

Correct--what I have on my 700r4--I like it--like having a manual but no clutch--if U get the B-M ratchet shifter--to me it's fun!

I think it really depends on your setup. my th-350 with a 3500 stall and 3:23's was no problem to cruise on the freeway. it pulled about 2400 rpm @ 70 but when i put the 3:73's in it pulled about 3k rpm so i dont know what gear you have kevin but i think you need to consider that. only thing is a th-350 with automatic valve body like what i have can take a beating and you still can let it shift automatically when your cruising.

200r4 .................................
overdrive
can still be setup for manual valve body
Grand Nationals have gone 8 sec's with the tranny
70 mph will be ~ 1,800 rpms in 4th gear
or ..........
SIX-SPEED

With my 400 and 3.31 (and a 4000 stall torque converter )
I'm doing about 3500 at 75 mph, 4000 at 90. I wouldn't want to go much lower than my 3.31:1 for freeway driving.
MAYBE 3.73 but then a lower stall would be helpfull.
Anyway, I'm happy with the built, manual valve body 400. I know that no matter what I throw at it, it will just laugh at me and wonder when I'm going to get serious.
But if I were doing it over again, if I were switching to a manual valve body, I would get a reverse shift pattern. That way I could go from first to park, instead of having to shift back up to third before I can go to park.

kevin have you check your aw hell what is it called arg on the tail of the trans is a round dome shapped cover that has a valve boy pressure thing damn i can't think of the term on the end of it there is a plastic gear if that brakes it wont allow you to go out of second because its not allowing enough pressure to the trans. just an idea its like 4 bucks for that gear

possibly though i had one brake on mine you would have to floor it in 1st till like 3500 then let off and punch it again to get it to shift try to do the same in 2nd and you couldn't :-(
