Drill and re-tap the holes. Then use bigger bolts.

Heli coil thingy? I used one of those for the first time on my intake manifold and i think they are the coolest thing i have ever used when it comes to a stripped bolt hole....just my opinion.

we drilled and tapped all 4 of them after one stripped. made it easier to use 4 new bolts for the new thread size so that you don't mess anything up putting the wrong bolt in the wrong hole.
Took all of 10 minutes for all 4.

How strong are the heli coils? Like what should they not be used for?

I wouldn't even bother with a helicoil, just drill, tap, and put new bolts.

I think I am just going to redrill and tap. Any idea what size you used.

try searching on this one, it's kinda gamey. You're drilling into a small block of metal in there. I tried to drill out and tap for 7/16", but I ended up with no threads left anyway. I just dropped a 3/8NC bolt in from the top, then washers and a nut below.

I have had this problem before. I cut a hole in the floor pan right above the nuts and cut them out and welded in new ones and welded the hole back shut. That worked for me but I never even thought of retapping the nuts.

i had to heli-coil all 4 of mine but while doing a gear swap in the trans one of them pulled out so i only have 3 but if your running a stock torgue arm then it pulls up on the trans while you take off and when you brake it doesnt pout that much force but now i have a BMR torgue arm so im not to worried about it if i lose anymore then i will fix it

cut access holes in the frame rails. Use a die grinder, and remove all traces of what was there (the old nuts). Put in 3/8" NC nuts, or whatever you like. put a bolt in the hole from below, line it up, tighten the nut in place, weld the nut in place. Or buy weld in nuts, if you like. When you finish one side, put a new piece of sheet metal over your access hole, and weld it shut, grind it smooth. Now you have good reliable tapped holes.

national coarse. "normal", as opposed to fine thread. That isn't really a big deal, use whichever you like.
