Are all A-arms the same
As the title says, are all A-arms the same on 82-92 models, just wondering because I got one off an 84 to put on a 92. I'm assuming they are just wanna double check.

Re: Are all A-arms the same
From what I know, And I could never confirm this because I never personally checks but I think the steering stops riveted onto the a-arms are slightly different posistioned between the 15" factory wheel cars and the 16" factory wheels cars. I put 16" factory IROC wheels on a factory 15" RS car and the wheels would rub until I welded a little more material onto the factory a-arm stops.

Re: Are all A-arms the same
think A-arms from a 14 inch wheel car to a 15 inch wheel car would throw off the end links any?

Re: Are all A-arms the same
Sway bar links are always a little cockeyed. Best to install both sides just barely together first, making sure you have both sides attached before you start tightening either side.
Often also people use slightly shorter endlinks and suffer from this result also. Longer links help with better alingment, but too long of links will cause contact of the swaybar into the chassis during articulation of suspension function

Example:
Stop, Lwr Cont Arm-RH (82-84) (85-87 Exc 16" Whl) (88-89 Exc Z28) (90-91 Exc 16" Whl).
Stop, Lwr Cont Arm-RH (85-87 W/16" Whl) (88-89 W/Z28) (90-91 W/16" Whl)
Moreover, the Bumpers are different as well:
Bumper, Lwr Cont Arm (1982-84) (1985-87 Exc FEZ) (1988-91 W/15" Whl) P/N 10068783
Bumper, Lwr Cont Arm (1985-87 W/FEZ) (1988-91 W/16" Whl) P/N 14089443

Re: Are all A-arms the same
I've tried hooking each side up first, the drivers side always comes out having a bad angle on the endlink, this post will tell why I'm having the problem I've replaced most of the parts https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...ot-lining.html

Re: Are all A-arms the same
Since it was brought up I noticed this too. From the Global West site, they list different part numbers for the lower arm bushings with the cut off being mid year of 1983.
http://www.globalwest.net/1982-02_Ca...m_bushings.htm
http://www.globalwest.net/1982-02_Ca...m_bushings.htm
Part# 1021 ( fits 1982 to mid 83) $150.41 per car
Part# 1022 (fits mid 1983-92) $150.41 per car
Part# 1022 (fits mid 1983-92) $150.41 per car

Re: Are all A-arms the same
The 82-83 ones have a smaller bushing. The are all the same bushings from then out.

Re: Are all A-arms the same
Lets conclude the given facts-
'82- '83 1/2 A-arms: small ear bushings/15" wheel stops
'83 1/2-'92 A-arms: Large ear bushings...two types of stops/ a) 15" wheel stops, and b) 16" wheel stops
This concludes there are 3 types of factory A-arm options if one were to get something out of a salvage yard.

Re: Are all A-arms the same
Thanks for the info! Was that on their website or something you have on hand? Just curious since I was looking on the website and didn't see anything specific like that.

Re: Are all A-arms the same
Ok guys. Im desperate and I need help as in tonight because tommorrow (Thursday) Im going to hit the junk yard early in the morning. So my understanding is that the 16" (85-92) wheel has the large ear right? So then does the 92 RS have 16" wheels? In otherwords, Is my 86 IROC's front control arrns the same as the 92 RS's control arm?
